That 2up/2down crank is insane, I've never seen a picture of that. Has anybody tried that nowadays?

Fro has posted a couple of small pics of his car in this thread. It was one of my favorite cars at the HAMB drags so I got a couple of pics of it then.

    Hi
Did you buy the banger off the back of a ute at Berwick for $100?
If that was you, you beat me to it by 30 seconds.
    Regards
    Brendan

    Sorry Brendan it was me:D:D

He said he was able to turn it over - but I haven't got it to do it yet!

We should get together and talk bangers.

PM your phone number if you want to chat.

You mean the Winfield crank? The crank in the recreation of Winfields car is a new crank. They didn't want to run the old one, Ed mis-drilled one of the oil passages.

Rawlins in the new car, and Winfield and Eggsgard together.

All three owners of the two up two down engine.

Very nice. I took my water return from over the exhaust valves. Seemed like that would cool the valves best. My head is dry though. Is yours?

Have anyone ever researched Winfield carburetor finishes? From what i can se from old litterature they were both delivered with natural finish and plated with something that looks like copper or something.

Also have anyone a good trick on how to remove the brass plug between float and diaphragm in bottom of Winfield SR floatbowl? Is it threaded?

    fur,
He doesn't say in the article I have how it handles but he ends the write up saying this...

"I have driven both a Bugatti and Alfa Romero (both supercharged) at Monterey and this car felt more powerful than either one of them. It was true. After 80 years in hibernation we proved that this red hot engine was the real deal."

Hey guys, looks like I am keeping the banger in my coupe instead of my A-V8 idea so I had a question. I have searched and searched but can't find any info on the 33/34 trannies bolting up to the banger. AC&R has a adapter but it says 35-39 trannys. Does a 33/34 tranny not fit this adapter? Reason I'm asking is because I have a chance to get a nice one for cheap. Thanks.

I am going to lighten my fly wheel this week. My question is my clutch dice face has a under cut in the corner. Do I leave it or face the surface until it cleans up. All the pics that I have of the fly wheel cut down for the V8 Pressure plate I dont see a under cut. Just a clean surface. The under cut looks to be about .03 deep. I am thinking of cutting a 1/2- 5/8 45 deg. cut on the inside of the fly wheel by the ring gear. There is a lot of meat there I don't think I need it all any input would be a big help.
    thanks Bill

  29. I deleted my first reply as it was not clear. You press the valve apart after you UNSCREW it from the float chamber. It takes a 4 prong spanner to remove. The guy I spoke to assumed the valve was already removed. The kits on ebay include a new valve in them.

I think the early Winfield carburetors were "flash" Copper plated. I purchased a NOS float chamber from Mike Hart that was just plain die cast. I think a lot of the carbs are bead blasted. It they look very dark or even black they are probably Copper plated. Once, in a BS session a guy told about his buddy that bought a new "D" Winfield and took it home and wire brushed the Copper off.

Lately i have been searching for any info about a head/heads for a A/B engine that were made here in Australia by Andy Jenkins. From the only photo i have it looks to be similar to a Rajo 4 port made from a chunk of aluminum.
The team of Jim Brierley and Dan Iandola ran 132.977MPH at Bonneville in '86 in their 'For Ever Four' lakester using this head.

I have searched everywhere for this but no luck. Would anyone know?
