Dixco was a very popular brand back in the 60's.

Jones Motorola made tach for submarines and was located in Stamford. Connecticut back in the mid 60's There name appears on the early Moroso units because that is who made them.

    Here's a mini tach from the middle '60's. I believe it is a Dixco. mini_tach1.jpeg mini_tach2.jpeg

Jones Motorola manufactured automotive mechanical tachs for Moroso, Stahl, and Duffys, as well as selling them under thier own brand. In the seventies/eighties, I would say probably 90% of the race cars out there had a tach manufactured by them, the other 10% being Autometer. Sometime in the mid/late eighties electronic tachs (predominately Autometer) started taking over the race car market.

  6. I also have a NOS sending unit and a Super Sun Tach I bought in 1965. What kind of batteries do you have in the sending unit?

  7. If y'all are looking for a transmitter that uses common over the counter batts, look for the E (not EB) series. This one used a single D size (accessible under the tag). I believe these were made from the mid-40's through the early 50's.

I have a AA alkaline battery in it. The tach does read a little high since it is made for the non-existant 1.3V mercury battery. Battery has lasted over 2 years now.

Just got mine back from Williamson's today:
    ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1409097756.801643.jpg

It's never looked better.Ron polished the chrome,re painted the needle, and rebuilt the movement to work with any style ignition.

Can't wait to get it in the car and try it!

Here's an unusual A/C woodgrain job (for sale in the Parts for Sale section, I might add).

There was an Airguide on evilbay just this past week with a BIN for 50 bucks and it was a working tach. Seemed like a good price to me.

  28. I had one of these but, it was a 10k tach. For some stupid reason, I sold it on eBay..... Bad move.
