Very sorry for your loss, I to have felt your pain, nothing on earth quite like loosing your best friend and Dad! For me the void 4 years ago was filled by motivation to do things I've never done before ( see pics of what his spirit helped me build by my self) and work with my dad looking over or beside me every step of the way! Rest a sure, you will talk to him more now than ever before. The hardest part for me is rationalizing the correct way to do something (my dad was a damn good mechanic to) now that he's not here!

I too have a frame of reference for what you're going through, like something is literally missing from inside you. Your heart is broken and your guts are wrenched. Man it hurts...bad.
But, consider if you can, it's the only real down-side of having people in our lives for whom we care so much. Time is your friend. Best wishes and deepest sympathies.

I got a phone call from Mom on Christmas 1996, that Dad was in bad shape and she needed help getting him to the doctor. He went downhill for a couple weeks and passed. I can't go through a Christmas without reliving it. Mom got sick, 7 years later on Christmas, and she passed on also....

My dad was the greatest car guy and a good mechanic. I miss him greatly.

I suggest that you get some of his tools and add them to yours... Every time you use one of his tools, he will be "helping" you on a project. Maybe this just sound weird to you but I found it extremely therapeutic... It really felt like he was helping me... still does...

    I loved the magazine story!

I don't know you but I feel for you. I know how it hurts. My fathers death made me wonder why I didn't spend more time with Dad....

Hang in there, it gets better with time...

    Very sorry for your loss.

  20. Heart-felt condolences to you and your family. It's hard to lose someone you love anytime, but it is especially worse during the Christmas Season. I lost my Mom during Christmas 1963 when I was 18.It made the Holiday Season a bit of a struggle at times.

  21. Very sorry for your loss. Take comfort in the knowledge that you will one day be reunited.

We are going through our first Christmas since the loss of our son (my best friend) last August, and can fully relate to your grief. It never goes away, but it does become more bearable over time. Treasure your memories think of all your blessings in spite of your loss. I am so grateful that my son and I knew how much we loved each other, and it sounds like you and your dad were the same way. Please accept the heartfelt condolences and best wishes from one who's been there.
