I was just thumbing through my newest issue of HOT ROD magazine and found the article on Santa Maria drag strip "Lost In Time" where guys from central coast California opened their own dragstrip with the help of local speed shop owner Jerry Gaskill and the Dragons car club by leasing an old air strip because Goleta had closed in '52 and the didn't want to go all the way to Santa Ana. It's got lots of cool pictures including Cook and Bradwell, "Jazzy" Jim Nelson's twin flathead nitro burning dragster, and the Howard's cam's twin bear dragster with unpainted plywood font end.
