Ryan: No hard feelings if you want to delete this. Just thought someone on here might find it interesting.

Yes, I'm riding Tommy Lee Byrd's coat tails to glory. When Tommy was too busy to do a follow-up to his award-winning Lost Drag Strips, I got the assignment and ran with it. This is the shot I've been waiting for - a chance to pay back the sport I love for five decades of grins. I hope some of my passion and joy come through on these pages.

Lost Drag Strips II is now available everywhere money is accepted. Please support your local book store. If they don't stock this part number, amazon.com has a discounted copy with your name on it. Thanks to all of my heroes (now my friends) who contributed to this labor of love. It's been a sweet thrill ride!

    Congrats, Scotty.
In case you don't know him, he is one motorhead whos lives, breathes, and writes about it.
    Good luck with this one.

Thanks K9! But that first edition was written by Tommy Lee Byrd - not me. As for a THIRD edition - I don't know if I have it in me...

Thanks, Tommy! This book will likely be my swan song, as I developed some health problems when I started on it, and was just barely able to finish it! In hindsight, you were wise to pass on this asskicker! I just hope it lives up to the standard you set with the original...

  19. Very cool.... I need to buy the first book as well.

Here in Virginia we lost the oldest dragstrip on east coast about 4 years ago, Old Dominion Dragstrip. I applaud your efforts in keeping these places remembered.

Thanks, 61. Sorry Old Dominion didn't make it into the book though... PS: Nice avatar!

  21. If you continue with book III, I have direct connection to the former owners of Old Dominion and could setup an Introduction.

Thanks for the compliment... It's a little Chassis Research Dragster we haul around.

Preserving the history of these great old drag strips for others to remember is a wonderful thing.
Many of us who remember these drag strips will never forget them and all the fun we had.

I always thought it was a shame how many great old drag strips, speed shops, circle tracks all kind of just faded away and all that was left are weeds growing up in a place that was once so full of excitement and thrilling racing.

Yeah, both storied tracks. Alas, neither made the final cut for this book...

Hey Rob! Yeah, I have enough info for another one, but getting usable photos is the trick. Kicking ideas around with the publisher (CarTech Inc) this week... How 'bout a Rob Frazer biography?
