Hot Rods Looking for some 33-36 Willys help!

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by g-willys, Oct 31, 2014.

  1. I have been a Willys guy since the 60's, with the majority of my involvement and ownership centered around the 37-41 models. I am currently building my first early Willys, a very nice 36 sedan. Didn't realize how small they were, so its been an experience. My question is... how do you put the door glass, window roll up mechanisms, and door opener mechanisns in...is there a specific order? Also, it seems on my rear doors, that I have to put the window channel in after the glass goes in. My hands are not that big, but I can't get them in much of the lower door portion to get that stuff in. Any help would be appreciated, along with some pictures of doors without the door panel, so I can see the way the parts should fit. I should have taken a few pictures years ago when I took it apart. I know Weasel and a couple others have the early cars, can you guys or others help me out ???

  3. Like to help with my 35 but I haven't had it apart yet. Lovely looking 77 you have there. JW:)

  4. If you have no luck I will dig my 35 sedan out and take two door panels off and get some pics. JW

I have a set of door I will look at also, when I did mine it was in the early 70's. I'll try to look tomorrow. Nice looking car though, hope you get it.

  6. Wow, it's hard to believe that some of you early Willys owners out there have not had the same trouble fitting everything back in to the doors on an early Willys. Thanks to those who did reply...hope there are a few more out there that can enlighten me, especially on putting the rear door glass and channel (which goes first, the glass or the channel) in on a 4-door.

I looked at the doors I have and some pictures of my sedan build and I seem to recall; putting the glass and channel in "together". Wrap the channel around glass with enough hanging over to go down the door then fish it into door. I believe thats what I did.
    Good Luck, Pat

  8. That's a start...thanks...I was hoping there was an easier way, but perhaps not!
