Have you seen this '29 Ford Roadster Hot Rod? I am trying to locate it.

My Dad, Ed Seltzer, built this hot rod in 1954 in Tarzana, California.
If you have seen this car or know of its whereabouts I would greatly appreciate hearing from you.
I would love to find it and possibly buy it.

The car has a Ford flathead V8 with twin carburetors and a 3-speed manual transmission with floor shift.
The paint color is white, the doors are welded shut, and it has a bench seat.

We moved to Van Nuys, California in 1960 and he sold the car around 1964.

The photos shown are from 1962, the car has California license plates MDF 647.

It resembles Jim Govos 32 Ford roadster "Tweety Bird" built in the mid 50' s. upload_2021-5-3_11-4-27.jpeg

Looks similar to the Leggy Linda Plannette Roadster.

It looks similar to the red one owned by Austinrod (or a name similar to that). He has a thread about it.

Come on fellas you gotta clean Mr. Sandman outta yer eyes!!

Tweedy's a full on Deuce Roadster and @Austinrods is a modded 34 Ford Sedan... perhaps your thinking the Rootlieb Roadster shown below, also a modded 33 ford sedan...that's a little closer...

Looking at the OP it looks like a well done inspiration to the Mechanix Illustrated homebuilts which varied in execution from pretty crude to credible SportsRods...

Here is a link below on the Mechanix based Hybrids that were based on a Ford Chassis in the early 50s...I searched the Thread but no matches but my point is the OP looks like a quality inspiration of...

  15. You could try calling the main office of CA DMV and asking if that plate is registered.

@Eric Seltzer, do you know if your father entered it in any shows? Also did he belong to any Car Clubs that you are aware? Any lead could help gain knowledge and a potential find...

Bttt...anybody out there remember this admirable Cali Sports Rod built in 54 last seen in 64...this is certainly of a Caliber that would have given it potential to have been covered in any number of the Little Page Zines of the day...
