I came accross this old Paxton Supercharger and can't seem to find any info about it. Hopefully someone recognizes it. Any info would be appreciated.

    VAC- 6.5Hg
    CAP- 540 scfm
    RPM- 5400
on the back are the numbers 27221.

  2. I could be wrong, but it looks like a Paxton industrial unit to me...they made a lot of them for non-automotive applications, including submarines. http://www.paxtonproducts.com/

The automotive units can be found here: http://www.paxtonauto.com/

Either one may be able to steer you in the right direction.

I just saw a picture of the same thing. Said it was for pumping air around in a submarine. Homespun knows his blowers.

  4. :D

I've always been curious to see if one would fit on top of an old York A/C bracket...and rig up a blow-through system on the cheap. It would look like ass, but the first blower setups mostly did...

The few times I've seen one, it was either a ridiculous amount of $ 'cause it was a Paxton, or, it was terminal & not worth the gas to haul it home.

At 5000 RPM it's only going to be pumping 540 CFM...Not exactly what you need on a car. it would make a dandy cabin blower on a submarine though....:D

  7. 1) Overdrive ratios are your friend. :D *

    2) I was thinking about a 2.0 Ford in a very lightweight car.

    3) The earlier Paxton car applications are actually rated fairly close to this...you have to up the drive ratio, which was done in a couple of different ways. They aren't that effective at lower speeds...one disadvantage of them.

*fine print: with the understanding that the blower would be cheap enough to be a (relatively) painless sacrifice; also that the engine might be too, if/when the overspeeded impeller chucked itself into the engine. But, it's a 2.0 Ford....they were cheap as dirt in the '80s when I considered this. Like $50.

I asked the same question about the same unit several weeks ago when it was on E-bay. Got no repsonse so I stopped my bidding at $125.00. The high Bid was $126 but the reserve was never met.....I don't think it is an automotive unit at all.....but what the hell do I know !

  10. My personal take on it is that I wouldn't pay more than $50 for an industrial one, and it would have to be pretty decent. If you are interested in doing a low-buck deal like I described, there are other brands out there.. Problem is, a lot of the industrial stuff is heavy & bulky...but there are smaller ones made & reasonably easy to find.

Sorry your question wasn't answered. I had my wife list it and really thought all questions were answered. I really don't anything about the unit as stated. I bought it from a friend who was helping to clean out an old Holley carb. warehouse here in Bowling Green a few years ago and stumbled accross it. I just thought it looked cool, bought, and let it sit on a shelf out in the garage with all that other stuff I'll probably never use :)

    Hey Hotrod_man_2000
I just noticed that you meant you put your question on the HAMB about it and it wasn't an un-answered question to me on the ebay listing. This thread is the only info I have found out about it. I didn't really know what it was worth and was basically just trying to find out some info on it. If nothing else it looks cool in my garage next to all that other stuff I'll never use :)
