Brought home this unique 39 merc today and wondering if anyone recognizes it. Has sticker on window 1999 merc deuce reunion Indiana. It has been chopped with padded Carson after examining it appears to have been a vert originally. It’s chanelled with raised fenders and hood pancaked to accommodate. Any info appreciated thanks.
So far I’ve dated the car back to early 80’s with owner being Bob Taylor of Pennsylvania. He claims the car is said to be 50’s kustom survivor and said car was black primer when he acquired and sold it. All body mods except hood louvers and tail pan treatment were already done. Any info before that???? Thanks. Here’s update on car. Raised suspension and installed 36 ford artillaries giving it a more traditional appearance. Ripped out a lot of the 80’s interior features Looking for low profile bench and some 16” caps
Bump to top.. thanks for all that have helped so far. So now believed to have been finished by Tom heft of Fenton Michigan. John nunn of Indiana acquired after him and did the exhaust treatment. This is later history but really eager to find early history. Thanks
Pretty much dialed in. Looking more 50’s kustom besides the paint color. 16” wheels, raised the stance.
Heaven on Earth...congratulations and it's in very good hands...Lucky Custom...Lucky Guy...and I hope we locate some vintage pics...
Merc was started some where in Illinois. I purchased it after attending one of the NSRA Street Rod Nationals that was held in Minneapolis. Don't remember the year. I was looking for a 40 Merc convertible at the time and was told of it by word of mouth. It was already channeled and the hood was sectioned, but not finished I found it parked behind a body shop and the body shop painter used to spill any paint left over from a paint job on a different section of the car. I brought it back to Pennsylvania and worked on it for about a year and sold it to Bob Taylor who you previously mentioned. I did see it for sale at the Hershey swap meet several years later. Good luck with your new toy.
