looking for a motor

    What v8 motor has a vertical valve covers and what ci and years, I was thinking it was a Buick back in the 1960t , any help

    Buick nailheads...
    Sizes were 322, 264, 364, 400, 401, and 425

    FYI...The 401 and 425 were called Wildcat 445 and 465 respectively due to their torque rating. People will often mistake these numbers for the displacement.

    BTW, for anyone looking, I have a 401 in the classifieds

    ok thanks now all i got to do is fine one, I had one in my 1961 Buick Special, if I remember right is was an aluminum block.

    The Special used a 215 cubic inch V8 that was not the same as the larger nailheads they're talking about. 3 years only, 61-63, and Olds had a similar engine. All aluminum.
