We've been looking around for a couple of weeks and then it struck me--Ask the HAMB. We're looking for a dropped tube axle for our 33 Willys drag car build and don't really want a heavy .250 wall street rod axle. Any thoughts or directions out there? thanks in advance guys and girls
Ardyboy: I'm looking for the same thing for my Morris. The Chassis Shop sells a nice chrome moly one for cheap ($160, I think), but it's only 36" wide (for dragsters). Maybe they'd whip up a wider one for you for a few extra bucks? I'll be using one of the narrow ones on the Altered I'm putting together, but am still looking for a simple solution for the Morris. We might both end up building our own...
It's probably ~6" narrower than Ford as he uses Datsun rear and that's where it falls width wise. http://www.chuppshotrods.com/html/pricing.html
I have made two. Not really very hard. I did use 250 for the first one since it was for a 1/4 eliphtic single spring and i wanted no problem. The last one(2 springs) i used .180" wall mild steel. it is actually not very heavy at all. here is the last one i made. I used whatever spindles are available. (as in Free) and make the tube and king pin bosses to suit. You can make it the exact length you want. Don
Zeminick was talking about getting Torelli to make on for the anglia, might contact Cryan from the Gasser Gang to get contact number.
