This made my day. My uncles neighbor brought over his 35 today. Then takes me a ride, so cool. He built the car in '56, and was last painted in '64. I love hearing him tell his story about this car, and since i was a small kid i have loved this thing. I have only seen him get it out a few times and the last two times he has brought it to my house. What an honor to me, today was the first time he has had it out since he brought it over to my old house 6 years ago. The interior was done in the 60's. He added a back seat because his kids were to little to be in the rumble seat at the time. The motor is a '56 olds rocket, and he said he pounded out the script and leaded the valve covers smooth so the motor patrol would not notice it. The car is so cool i just had to share it with you.The car is a true survivor.

    Bad ass.

I guess the "Motor Patrol" didn't know what a flathead was supposed to look like.

I don't think I'll ever own anything that long.

  15. Oh hell yes!!

The sound of that Olds engine and seeing him shift the toploader, man,,, gave me goose bumps.

That is a perfect example of a survivor. SO many cars like that were billet-ized and bastarized through out the 70's and 80's it is such a shame.

THat dude is HAMB material :D

Yep, this guy could make anything run, anything from a lawn mower to a motorhome, one of the best mechanics i know. And he plays a mean guitar. Now if i can get him on a computer.

  18. Sign him up!! He could probably teach us all a thing or two. It's great that he brings the car over to show you. It sounds so sweet and he drives it like it was meant to be driven. Thanks for sharing that, it made my morning.

    Cool story,
Sounds like that old fellow is looking for someone to keep it the same after he's gone. Especially since every time he takes it out it ends up at your house. I'd love to meet him. Cool fellow. Thanks for sharing.

Who is the Motor Patrol and what do they do? Why would he have to do that much work to fool them?

apperently in 1956 they were a little strict in the town he was living???

i didn't go into much detail about it but they have held up real nice and the car drives like he built it yesterday, nice and tight, well built car

Actually they are '66 Galaxie caps also used on early Broncos. I had a set on mine which were the original caps on the car when my grandpa bought it new. When they used them on Broncos the center is not there for the locking hubs. That there old Ford is Sweet !!!
