  1. ....but they wont contact me back to see if they want to sell or not. She is a 1950 buick. I have left a few notes in thier mail box telling them i would like to save that car and to call me, but nothing back. It just sits by the side of thier barn and has been there ever since i could remeber. (see her every day on the way to work) They just pulled it out of the weeds and onto the cement slab about a month ago so I snapped some picks of it. Floors are pretty much gone and it looks like alot of work but there is just something about that "waterfall" grille that just gets to me, love it! What do you guys think? Should i keep going after it? I feel like im buggin the people now....

I love those Buicks. Seems to me that if they dragged it out of the weeds, then somebody's got some kind of plans for it. Hopefully the plans are to put it up for sale.
  3. That would be super cool, floorboards aren't too tough to make.
  4. Is it possible that you could go there during a time they might actually be
home? Evidently they don't want to call you for some reason. Some
people are just like that. Maybe they would tell you what their plans are
face to face. Just a thought.

Yeah...the scrapguy with the Pitman crane truck asked them to put it there so it would be easier for him to wrap the cable around her.
"It's just, you can't fix that!!!!"

Wouldn't surprise me a bit if that turned out to be the case.

What a cool car to save. Hope you can get it!
  6. go to their place with CASH in hand, that usually seals the deal.

.........You really have to talk to them and get some kind of answer(yes. no. maybe) If its no or maybe, then leave them your business card with them.....with a PRICE that you would pay them.on the back of the card......also use the word cash in bold letters( $1000 CASH )......people always save cards that say cash.......they don't want to deal with checks or banks...........also if that car is out where everybody can see it....your not the only one that has stop to look at it or tried to buy it.....Good luck
  8. I'd say it would be best to catch them gardening, cutting the lawn, or shoveling snow ... some kind of outdoor activity (not unloading groceries or heading to a wedding/funeral, you want to get them when they have time to chat), and show up in your old car so they know you are serious. It does sound like they already have plans for it though, based on their moving it. Best of luck.

If you really want the car, Id hold off leaving anymore notes. Speaking from personal experience, as I have a 'few' old O/T cars round the place (not all mine), and there a chap, who must be like the scarlet pimpinel as he leave lots of notes when nobody is here; there usually is...
He leaves notes on the screen of each car, and has dropped notes through the letter box regarding the engines I have covered; hes obviously been having a good snoop...
His notes are poorley written, and I will never, no matter how desperate I get money wise, to sell to him -My assumption is hes an opportunist in these bleak economic times, and will offer a pittance for my 'valuable junk'; that said its the lack of respect for, and invading my 'space' is my biggest 'turnoff'...
Tread with care, with the owner -that buick has some beautiful patina tho -worth persuning IMO.

Yep, now that you've fallen in love with it, show up with cash in hand! Also as suggested maybe your old car to show intentions that the car will be saved.
For some reason, 50 Buicks always seem to be 4 dr.'s. This one has a great body for a MI. car! Trim and glass look great too. Something tells me it hasn't been outside in the snow since '50 (or 67). Bet it was under cover for some time.
1967 plates. Maybe it's an old family car. If it hasn't been on the road since '67 it may be low miles.
Hope it's not on the concrete because someone already bought it or it's waiting for the Grandson to pick it up.

Catch them at home with cash in hand. I have had many people stop asking about my cars and most try to lowball me. I then am done dealing with them and escort them off my property, I would make a fair offer instead of trying to get it real cheap. They may refuse to deal with you if you offer too little. I would not call someone who left a note unless they made a cash offer on the note. Good luck, I hope you get it.

    Here is what I'd do:

I'd pull together as much cash as I could, or as much as I think could buy it. Then I would talk to the owner face-to-face about it. If that beast has a title and the owner isn't dead, I'd say $3000-$5000 would have no problem getting it...depending on how bad you want it. If it doesn't have a title then I'd probably pass on it, but that is cause I've had more headaches than I care to have had. If no title, and you still want it, anything less than $2500 would be a deal. The car looks solid enough for your location and metal can always be fixed.

I would just be sure to offer cash. In this economy, who could refuse it?
  21. ...and a two door no less! Most of those I see are the more door variety. Either way its a great car. Like they said, maybe cash would do the trick. GO FOR IT!

  25. I'd be driving by looking for signs of someone home. Let them know how interested you are in saving the car. It looks custom even stock. What a nice sled that would make! Floor boards are not rocket science. Get her done!

Stay after it . You might be the one to take it home. Think of it as a job interview dress for success when you drop by.

If someone is going to treat a cool car like that they deserve for you to bug them. Keep trying!

That's a Bitchen rig Bro! Like everybody else has already stated, bring cash, and speak to th owner face to face. Don't worry about a title, you can always find one if you need it. Here in CT anything older than 1980 doesn't need, and doesn't get a title. Best of luck to you!
  30. UH maybe they don't want to sell it.
