This car sold new in California... by the time it got to Kansas, it had a 401 buick, with 3 speed manual trans hooked to the original ford rear
end. I dont know what happened between 1940, and 2007;but if this car could talk!!!

I need to sell the HAMBCHARGERS II, so I`ll have some money to play with this FORD.

Very kool....I've had my eye on one that the lady's husbands father who were both deceased was the original owner...The car was amazing and give me the chills as i stood next to it...It was a untouched original (right down to the paint) w/less than 40xxx n the speedo and even had the service station records dated back to July 64 when the last day it was serviced/inspected...Right next to it was a 57 T-Bird that was in prestine shape as well...We worked out on a agreemnt with the car then i went through a divorce inwich she promised she would hold onto it till i got matters cleared...Well, i stopped there the other day only to find out she sold it last week.....Even the T-Bird is gone!!
I'm more bummed about that then my split up..lolol

Congrats on your find..I cant wait to see what you do with it!!

I`d been looking for one of these for a long time... `bout gave up ever finding one I could afford.

A friend at work told me about this one...he said it was too rusty for him...but the price was right!

It was in Wichita...owner was asking $4000... I offered $2500..we ended up agreeing on $3000... We`re both happy!!!

Congrats on a great find. Not much in the automotive world can compare to the looks of a 40 Ford Deluxe Coupe. From every angle, they look great, and with a nailhead, it's even better.

E.T. "Bob" Gregorie, the designer of the 40, hit one out of the park with this design. I've been begging my wife for many years to get me one for my birthday, for our anniversary, for Christmas, but it hasn't happened yet! I'm still hoping!

Yes!! the engine and trans are still in it. I plan to use a small block chevy in this one.

How`s St Nick coming on his new `57?.. I hope he gets it going in time for the HAMB drags this year!!!

the engine is stuck, and the 3-sp trans isn`t real strong, and it is still hooked to the stock rear end via torque tube... I`d rather have a later rear end, and open driveline...
I had one of these when I was in High School...1964/65...

This just might be the TRANSPORTER vehicle to get me BACK there!!!

Thats a great find. I've always wanted a '40 coupe but you can't have everything. Whats the build plan for it other than the sbc?? A olds engine would be cool also. Keep us updated on what you are doing to it. Thanks for the pics.
