Welcome to Rusty Red Ram's abused and neglected hot rod sanctuary. Today's rescue is a 1937(?) Ford Panel Truck. Sure it is sans fenders, running boards, hood and grille (as of now, apparently the owner has them in his garage . . .) and there is a shit load of body work to be done (by the time I'm done with all the body work, I'll be the body man of the century) but hey there is a 1950 Mercury flathead tied up to a 1939 toploader 3 speed running out back to a 1940 banjo with juice brakes. There's a lot of work (I ain't gonna lie to myself) but I can see the end product and damn is it gonna look bitchin' towing our Jr Fuel dragster to the starting lines and back to the pits.

I've squirted some Marvel onto the slugs and hopefully it'll free up and turn over in the morning. Once I get the flattie running I'm gonna get the mechanicals all worked out, find a driver door and start driving around the block. Eventually all the rot and rust will get replaced and it'll serve double duty as the tow vehicle for our Jr. Fuel B dragster and as my daily driver.

I assume the 1934 was a typo. I'm sure you know that is probably a 37.

I was going to say by the belt line the two peice windsheild and the rounded door tops it looks like a 1937 to me. Even being a 37 he got one hell of a ride there.

Oh I love the truck! There is something about a crank out V-ed W/S on an old truck. Years ago the 37 was the ugly duckling but I really like them now. I don't know enough details to determine if it's a 37, 38 or 39 but my gut says 37.:D

  15. Great truck! Pull the plugs, marvel down all the holes and she'll free right up. That thing is in really nice shape. Mark

Here I like this site........it compares the 30's Ford Sedan Delivery to the same year Ford Panels.

    http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://www.rasloto.com/gallery/ford_sd/37ford-p-096X.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.rasloto.com/gallery/gallery_ford_sd.html&h=240&w=320&sz=14&hl=en&start=1&tbnid=US94mLWE6Xx2TM:&tbnh=89&tbnw=118&prev=/images%3Fq%3D1937%2BFord%2BPanel%26svnum%3D10%26hl%3Den%26lr%3D%26ie%3DUTF-8

    Its TOTALLY not a 34.:D

My two cents and an 1/5 of rum says Tommy is right. The back side of the 38 and 39 is rounded at the roof top where the doors are, yet 37 is squared off like yours.

    Now give Tommy his prize.:D

Thanks Mark, maybe I'll take and put glass on one of the sides to make more room for more decals . . . .
Judging by the pictures, I got a 37. I'll find out once I get my meat hooks on the pink.
