I had 51 for 15 years dont drive as much as Ilike to.
I have owned my 65 Comet since spring of 67! I parked it for a few years to spend time with my two sons. ROY.
Not more than 3-4 years. I get bored and move on to another project.
Originally got the '57 in 1997. Others have come and gone but I still have " Betsy"
Skull my grandfather bought a new 57 nomad when they moved to Florida, I was born in 1960 so I didn't get the chance to tell him to save her for me. I built a210 handyman once and someday I will do a nomad.
I have owned my 50 Merc since it was 1 year old
I think thats 61 years
the one in my avatar
and Planned to be Buried with it!
Have my 38 Chevy since 1983.........29 years...
39 years... don't drive it very often and I always spending time on other projects... but. I guess after ya have one long enough it becomes family
Lotta interesting history here. I got my 34 Ford 5 window in the late 70's & still drive it as much as I can. Had it out yesterday. Still have my 61 Ranchero that I used to haul home some of the 34. Man does time fly.
I've bought my 55 in 1982
Was gonna post here but heck, never mind, some of you guys have had your rods longer than I am old! And my boys make fun of how OLD I am! Anyway, I've had my Stude 15 years.
bought my 37 gmc when i was 15 , 69ss chevelle when i was 18 still have both. 50 now
Had my '63 Impala for 11 years. That's the longest I've owned ANY car, new or old. Since then, every car I've bought I have every intention of keeping forever, but it never works out that way. Just can't seem to find that "perfect" car that has and does everything I'm looking for. Hopefully the '35 in my garage and will become that car when it's done.
Have my 60 Corvette 30 years now.
I've had the '29 AA since 1974, and still isn't on the road yet. Everything takes priority, but I'm spending time (not money) on it. Somehow, someday, I'll find a way.
I've owned this since 87. Had my Monarch since 89, and my hardtop since 90-ish...
My Grandmother did the interior in the early 70's
I've never owned a classic as defined by the Classic Car Club of America http://www.classiccarclub.org/grand_classics/what_is_classic_car.html
I don't give a rippy doo dah, if your car is over 25 or 30 years old if it isn't on that list it's just a nice old car and not a "classic". That is probably on of the most misused words in the auto hobby. I've had people walk up to me at shows and tell me that "next year my car will be a classic" after asking what they have they tell me that they have a 24 year old Ford Fairmont.
As far as how long I've owned my old hot rod /custom truck It's been in my name for all but 18 months since 1973.
I built my 47 ford coupe in 1988. still have it but I think its time for somebody else to be its caretaker.
I've had my OT 1971 since 1973.
Bought the 37 GMC in my profile just 2 weeks short of 30 years ago. 3 paint jobs, two rebuilds, 3 engines and transmissions, 2 rear ends, later.
My 54 tudor was my high school car. I graduated in 1987.
I'm almost done with a total, frame-off rebuild.
Bought My 39 in 1962 for $125. got it running again in Jan. after many years
in storage. Ran a 40 deluxe hood & grill then. Going back to 39 stuff now.
Thats my son under the hood..... Rich.
My chopped 53 in my avatar was my highschool car and ive owned it since 1993 I will have it back on the road in a couple years. My father still has his 29 model A roadster hot rod that he bought when he was 17 back in 1962.When my parents were dating... It has a 312 and aircooled automatic. He redid it once back in 78 and then its been off the road since 1990. I built a whole new chassis for him about 10 years ago. Just waiting for my brother to do the sheet metal work. Ill try and post some old pics soon. He also has his 1957 ford skyliner that he has owned since 1965..
My non hamb 68 Vette....this July.....40 years.
Matching number 327-350HP, 4 speed close ratio, pw, 4 wheel pd brakes, posi, and rare...rare...factory air.
I got word last week that a good friend of many years ,has got rid of his Hot Rod after 37 years. He always said ,jokingly, that he would have it crushed and buried with him rather than let anyone else have it....it seems that the latest hike in petrol prices and a school janitors wages have forced his hand.It is a real shame ,as he is a true Hot Rodder, he never went to shows or bought car magazines, no computer,no T shirts with pictures or slogans, did all his own work and spent most on the mechanicals and next to nothing on paint unless needed, he used the car as a daily for most of the time until the price of fuel just got to stupid levels.Definately the end of an era.
Bought my Shoebox in '89, so I've had it for 23 years. Paint done in '97, interior in '98:
Small change compared with some of you guys!
I owned my '65 GTO for 36 years.
My OT '66 Nova SS L79 was the first car I bought - in June, 1972. So, I'm coming up on 40 years with her.
Any of my other cars could be bought for the right price... the Nova isn't for sale - I plan to keep her until I can't drive any more. THEN I'll worry about finding a good home for her!!
Bought my '55 Chevy 210 Delray in '87, built it up and traded it for my '53 Studee in '97 (10 years). Still have my Studee (15 years now).
Bought my '57 Fargo at 13, so going on 21 years now, the valiant has been around for about 16 years now....
