Lotta interesting history here. I got my 34 Ford 5 window in the late 70's & still drive it as much as I can. Had it out yesterday. Still have my 61 Ranchero that I used to haul home some of the 34. Man does time fly.

Had my '63 Impala for 11 years. That's the longest I've owned ANY car, new or old. Since then, every car I've bought I have every intention of keeping forever, but it never works out that way. Just can't seem to find that "perfect" car that has and does everything I'm looking for. Hopefully the '35 in my garage and will become that car when it's done.

  14. I've had the '29 AA since 1974, and still isn't on the road yet. Everything takes priority, but I'm spending time (not money) on it. Somehow, someday, I'll find a way.

  15. I've owned this since 87. Had my Monarch since 89, and my hardtop since 90-ish...

I've never owned a classic as defined by the Classic Car Club of America http://www.classiccarclub.org/grand_classics/what_is_classic_car.html

I don't give a rippy doo dah, if your car is over 25 or 30 years old if it isn't on that list it's just a nice old car and not a "classic". That is probably on of the most misused words in the auto hobby. I've had people walk up to me at shows and tell me that "next year my car will be a classic" after asking what they have they tell me that they have a 24 year old Ford Fairmont.

As far as how long I've owned my old hot rod /custom truck It's been in my name for all but 18 months since 1973.

  23. My chopped 53 in my avatar was my highschool car and ive owned it since 1993 I will have it back on the road in a couple years. My father still has his 29 model A roadster hot rod that he bought when he was 17 back in 1962.When my parents were dating... It has a 312 and aircooled automatic. He redid it once back in 78 and then its been off the road since 1990. I built a whole new chassis for him about 10 years ago. Just waiting for my brother to do the sheet metal work. Ill try and post some old pics soon. He also has his 1957 ford skyliner that he has owned since 1965..

I got word last week that a good friend of many years ,has got rid of his Hot Rod after 37 years. He always said ,jokingly, that he would have it crushed and buried with him rather than let anyone else have it....it seems that the latest hike in petrol prices and a school janitors wages have forced his hand.It is a real shame ,as he is a true Hot Rodder, he never went to shows or bought car magazines, no computer,no T shirts with pictures or slogans, did all his own work and spent most on the mechanicals and next to nothing on paint unless needed, he used the car as a daily for most of the time until the price of fuel just got to stupid levels.Definately the end of an era.

My OT '66 Nova SS L79 was the first car I bought - in June, 1972. So, I'm coming up on 40 years with her.

Any of my other cars could be bought for the right price... the Nova isn't for sale - I plan to keep her until I can't drive any more. THEN I'll worry about finding a good home for her!!
