Welcome from another X-NewYorker. We get back up there every summer. I went to a racetrack in fonda when I was a little kid. MY dad and grandpa used to race sportsman modified class. Got any pics of your ride?
At that time we lived in Chateaugay NY. Way up by the border. My dad is Don Manning and my grandpa is Dick Manning. #7-11. They raced all those tracks in the 60's and 70's. I've got a couple pics of them from that time but not enough. They are one of my most prized possesions. Got a few nascar record books from the early 60's and grandpa's name is all through them. If you had pics of them I'd just be tickled to death to see em'. Paul
i,ll see if i can take some pics later this week. i thought 7-11 was irv taylors? i did live in east liverpool for a year with my brother when i was17, my brother knew richie evans when he dragged race a 57? ford. i,ll trie and do so pics for the old modifieds.
Here's a pic of me showing grandpa just where to set the toe out. This is how the car looked when they quit racing in, ohhhhh 74 or 75? I'd love to see those pics. Got a scanner? I'd gladly send you some moolah $$ to have someone scan them. I watched Richie Evans race at Oswego speedway in his modified #6. My favorite car there was Jim Shampine's super modified cause he always ran the #8 ball. I was really too young to remember dad racing but he always said he was fast. Of course we ALL say we were fast but, i've seen a few trophies. Paul
