This is a friends truck. He wants me to get it road worthy, it's a neat truck. Looking for VIN tag and/or body tag location so I can learn as much as possible about it. Thanks 20201127_094448.jpg 20201127_093753.jpg

Drivers side door jam on a 53. Do I spy a 235 Chevrolet valve cover? Dodge 6’s of that era are flatheads.

If he doesn't know the VIN, I'd advise your friend to make sure he has a valid title before sinking money into the project.

Drivers side firewall, under the hood. Up high, about 12" from the outside edge of the firewall.

What kind of engine is in it? And trans, as whatever that is it won't be attached to the original. Well, highly unlikely anyway. Also, what was in it originally? Could have been a flathead six or poly V8.

I think it’s a late 55 or 56 due to the wrap around windshield.
Crazy that it has a Chevy 6.

I had a 54 when I was in high school (1980s) and that's where I remember it being as well.
I should have never sold that truck.

There is an ID number stamped on the driver side front frame horn. As I remember it is on the top about a foot from the end. A sanding block with 80 grit and some work will make it visible.

Vehicles of that era were titled with the engine number. If there has been an engine swap it might be that you have a piece of paper and a parts truck.

I appreciate all the responses guys. He has a clean title so this is not an issue.

Cali used engine OR body number. We just brought back a 40 Chevrolet that was an engine and had it reregistered as a body. Had a pink and 4 registrations from the 70’s; used a referee. All is now clean and completed.

Just for shits and giggles see if the title information matches the ID numbers on the truck.
