Local Mechanical Legend Passes: C.R. Saville

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by El Hueso, Jan 11, 2008.

  1. I thought some of you guys might enjoy this. I found out about this guy who recently passed away from my brother, who found an article on him in the local paper in Eugene. He went under the name of C.R. Saville. Did all sorts of crazy stuff. Flew airplanes, barnstormer style, under bridges and powerlines, and also quite the stunt man on his bike when he wasn't working on them. Had a motorcycle shop from 1928 till 1981. He never saw a doctor till the day before he died at age 98.
Check out some of his motorcycle stunt work he did from 1938:

Be sure to check out this article on him in the local paper:

    And another article:
http://www.oregonaviation.org/newsletters/2005_07.pdf here is an artical on C.R.
Has anybody heard of him or even done work with him. Sounds like an interesting character. Enjoy..
