When I was young and foolish…. Many a trip on a hope and a prayer. I was so sure my stuff would make it I rarely ever had tools with me. Now I want a tow behind support trailer if I plan to take the car cross country. When we went off reading we cobbled stuff in every conceivable way just to get the vehicle back to civilization. Blue wrenches, ratchet straps, and pieces patched together or deleted and bypassed. It was always a n adventure to fix what broke. And every time I see one of the patch job remnants I always smile and remember the satisfaction of the result rather than the frustration of the problem. Drive it. We’re re on the way.

  3. Time is rolling on & it is getting closer to LLOYDFEST 2025!

Do what you need to do to attend....Finish the ride, make your reservations & maybe a donation to help Lloyd cover all the expenses to put on this get together of a bunch of the greatest folks in the world.

I got to do a bench racing session with Lloyd at about 1:00AM Wednesday Morning. It was a short one though as we were both "Dead to the World":p. I was on the last leg of a 5 day, 5000+ mile trip & He was out fighting a fire when I arrived at the fire station. A visit with a great friend (albeit a short one) is always good for the soul!

    God Bless
    Bill

My brother-in-law and I were traveling across country in his '53 International Metro delivery van. While passing through a small town in Ohio, the gas tank straps had had enough punishment and dropped the tank on the ground. We came to a halt right in front of the only pet shop in town and just down the street from a parts house. After finding nothing at the parts house that we could make repairs with, we went to the pet shop and came out with enough chain leashes to hold the tank in place. Worked like that until we finished our trip. Necessity is the mother of invention.

Of all of the events posted here, this is the most appealing one. Timing is not great this year for me, but it’s not going to stop me from dreaming.

Thanks for putting these on, Lloyd.

With the speed of my build, I’ll definitely have it ready for this event. In 2030. . That won’t stop me from planning to have it done this year. But good help is hard to find. Especially when I’m the help on my project.

I'm sure Sherry and I will make it to LF-III in Clarence. We drove 9 hrs yesterday to get to Dewey for the SK-500. Google Maps says 5 1/2 hrs but that's on the superslabs. We were never on an interstate highway. US-54 and US-75 all the way. Even though these are US highways most of the way was 2-lane. Well, there was also the 20 miles of Rt J to get to 54. J is your typical hilly curvy country 2-lane rural blacktop road.

Last year we did interstates nearly the entire way to LF-II. Maybe this year we will take some back roads. However, if Lane is convoying with us we'll probably get there the quickest way possible. He will have been on the road for 3-4 days already and might not feel like taking any longer than absolutely necessary.

    See y'all in Kentucky.

You guys! You know i love you fellas :) wild Bill Squires it was so good to see ya man. Nothing like hanging out in a fire station at 1am, in a roller chair, building hot rods in our heads lol.... said it before, but you're welcome at my house anytime. Brother Randy has sat at that same firehouse and talked bullshit with me too lol, hell Big Andy went to the main central station and watched aerial training, took a shit, and looked at the departments 58 GMC. Any of you guys are welcome, anytime. Lloydfest 3, wow, that sounds crazy, but i never dreamed I'd be hanging out with some crazy hot rod guys from Ohio, Tennessee, Texas, Iowa, Missouri, Wisconsin, Indiana, Tennessee, Illinois, Pennsylvania, Georgia, Alabama, Virginia, and Kentucky! That's even crazier! It would be awesome to add another state to the list, but we're gonna have fun no matter who shows up  the trophies that Bandit Billy sent are still in the box in my living room, he posted pictures on here of what he was doing, but i feel the best reveal will be to open that box on Saturday morning of Lloydfest, but i appreciate the help more than you'll ever realize, hopefully someday I'll get to shake your hand and have a shot with you. Anthony named it Lloydfest, but it's your gathering, don't ever forget that. It's a venue for you crazy bastards to get together in person and hangout. Same place as last year, camping is allowed, your food and drinks will be provided, tshirt's are free, bring some parts to sell, and be sure to support or thank the guys and girls listed on the back of the shirt, because they help me tremendously in footing the bill. I'll post more info on what's gonna be going on this year, but we have Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.. hope everybody can make it! 20250503_123643.jpg 20250503_123621.jpg

Oh and while we're at it, valve cover race..... here are my official rules. (It's Lloydfest, I can do that :p)
    Maximum length of 30 inches.

Maximum width of 12 inches including the wheels.

Maximum of 6 inch tire diameter.

Stock class will be less than 5lbs
Modified class will be 5lbs to 8lbs.
    Outlaw class is over 8lbs.

I'll have a scale on sight. Class winners will recieve a trophy and bragging rights. Bring your "A" game.

So, as I read these rules, they are subject to interpretation and it's only if you're caught that you're cheating, right?;)

Well, yeah. But Lloyd will smash any disqualified valve covers with a wiped camshaft.

What does the track look like? Have you got dimensions? I know everybody has to run on the same track, but how much clearance between bottom of the body and the racing surface? This is some serious stuff here, bragging rights for a year. Is your track like the one in this video?

The track is an open 8' wide asphalt hill. I honestly don't care, it's all for fun, but weight makes a huge difference. Weight class just makes it a little more fair
