I have one trophy pretty much done, the other is half way or better. All I can say is you're going to like them.

Someone asked me the other day why I was making them. I thought about that and I have a working theory; for every trophy I receive, I should provide one. Karma, she likes that kind of stuff...and a little rough play. No bruising tho.

Too many tariffs on that north o the border booze. Woodford makes a sweet Manhattan! Or Olds Fashioned. Or over a big cube. Hell, batters choice.

You went to Woodford University? I was a Crown Royal foreign exchange student. I would love to have that recipe.

I have been busy building two trophies for this years fest.
    IMG_6933.jpeg
liberal amounts of engine turned aluminum and some resin bases that required a lot of sanding, dry and wet.

  17. Looking forward to photos of the completed trophies.

I ordered the clutch for my Vette today and I will order the Melonized distributor gear tomorrow.
I need to measure the distributor shaft tonight. I think everything will be here next week. If the weather is good next weekend, I will do my best to get it in the car next Saturday.

I chose the trophy titles to be somewhat "open" for Lloyd to decide how best to apply them. I wish I was there to pick the winners but I am told I am far too easy to bribe. I can't responsibly deny that.

I called one "The Picasso", it may be awarded for nicest paint, most abstract, most in need of a professional painter, worst color match, fake patina award, "why would someone paint it like that" award, "Is it going to stay like that" award, etc.

The other I titled "The MacGyver" . It may be given to the most creative, the best roadside bodge, the best use of household items in a hot rod, engineering award, red-neck engineering award, drunk-red-neck engineering award, worse welding, etc.

@Pist-n-Broke (aka Wizzard and my cohort on this project) didn't like the "best _____" or "nicest _____" and I totally agree. These titles give you boys (and dolls) some room to dance and get jiggy wit it.

Wizz and I just wanted to add to fun, your debauchery and just possibly your art appreciation.

I bought two of these to bring to last years Lloydfest. Life got in the way and Alyn and I couldn't make it, but this year, I'm bringing these along. Other folks go to wine tastings, we'll have a whiskey tasting.

    Alan,

I'm looking forward to seeing you and Alyn again.

b-t-w; Sherry and I have the same VRBO A-frame that we stayed in last year. Out where they pipe in sunshine and the hoot owls are in lust with the chickens.

Yeah but back to car stuff so the cob man don't run me off... those Pontiac guys are brutal. After me and Andy left the shop, we ran by Dave's place to pick up a driveshaft for my wagon. While we were there, he asked for some help with adjusting the valves on his 63 Galaxie with a 390/3 deuces. It has a solid lift cam. If you were at Lloydfest 2, Dave had the car there. Anyway, this is the feeler gauge I used to set valve lash, pretty good set of gauges. I also use a 1/4" socket for fuel hose clamps. But yeah, just car stuff cob :p love ya man  20250313_203837.jpg 20250313_203856.jpg

Trophy base. I cast this one using the top of a large mixing bucket and suspended a pain can opener, a razor blade and some air fittings for fun. A lot of sanding and polishing later…
    IMG_6927.jpeg
you can see a couple of holes I drilled and tapped to accept the back piece. Curving the back to match the base was a trick.

Hey, it worked without scratching up all my engine turning.
