It's nice to see a car that was driven from San Francisco to Austin last year, win. Which brings up, do the rules state that the contenders must debut at GNRS? Or is that only Detroit and Tulsa?

My shots of the Hollenbeck Roadster at the show do not do it justice. So here are a few I have taken at the shows he drove it to previously GNRS-1-6.jpg GNRS-2-5.jpg GNRS-2-6.jpg GNRS-3-4.jpg GNRS-3-5.jpg GNRS-4.jpg .

Thanks, Terry. I spotted it from afar, so that perspective got my attention, so I used a longer focal length to convey how I saw it. The light is also a strong element I took advantage of. I wasn't happy with the background, but.........

Over the last 65 years the criteria for AMBR has change depending on the climate and perception of the promoter (Buck) on what will give the most hype to the award. A few of years ago I understood that they stressed "Debut" cars. The last couple of years they have expanded the field to have 12 "contenders". This year they brought back several past contenders and included the "'34 Packard" to fill the field. Even though the top cars are still quality shop built cars, the Traditional Style will be with us awhile.

  23. No and I don't think it has ever been the case. It was pretty common a number of years ago for cars that competed for the Ridler to then compete for the AMBR the following year.

I'm so glad to see the Hollenbeck's win. It was such a joy to see the car in Austin after getting driven all the way from the Bay Area. I loved how it was simple yet full of attention and detail. Such a cool car.

Great pictures and coverage Tom. As you may have noticed, I did not make it this year due to a last minute emergency, so I am glad you were there doing your usual high level of photography.

Its doesn't have to debut, but I believe is supposed to be the first time it is judged. However, this year there was a 1 year rule change where previously judged cars could enter, which explains the presence of the Magnuson car, and the Tom Lieb roadster among others. Politics involved in that decision no doubt.
