You might want to give this guy @1961 Poncho a message he knows a lot about Pontiacs.

Try @applekrate or @safariknut or they also knows Pontiacs.

Ya, that’s what I decided to. I’m way to big of a guy to justify it. Plus, the proportions of this thing are looking great so I don’t think it needs to be chopped.

  7. My 41 cab is basically the same as yours, I'm 5'11" and 230#, I chopped it 4 inches, 2" through the middle of the rear window and 2" under the rear window and I have plenty of room, still about 4 inches over the top of my head when seated. In fact there's more room in my cab than my buddy has in his 41 Willys coupe.

I also shortened my wheelbase around 9 inches and the bed around 8 1/2 inches, I slid the bed forward, raised it up to better match the body lines and also narrowed the bed 4 inches so my 2 inch wider rear fenders stayed within the stock truck's width.

Here's rear window photo of how that turned out, keep in mind if you do chop it that the top is wider than the bottom, there's lead at the bottom of the windshield post and they make a repop windshield frame now.

as far as I know the 40 chevy truck cab is wider ,taller, and longer than the 37-38 truck cab.not by a huge amount but every little helps when you are starting out with a small cab.so your 41 cab was bigger to start with before you started chopping it.37 -38 chevy /GMC cabs are designated low cab.

  10. How did 37-38 cabs come into question ?
You have a 40, I have a 41, other than firewall stamping the cab from 39-46 are the same.

also my information says the firewall was extended 11/2"forward for more legroom in 41 making a big difference.

  13. Your information is wrong, 39-46 cabs are the exact same size, just go onto the GM Heritage center and all the sizes are listed since ya don't want to believe what I'm saying.
I'm not here to hi-jack the thread, just wanted to show what my chopped cab looks like and say that there's still plenty of room even with a 4 inch chop. 20160601_185650_zpso6yl0e30.jpg downloadfile-4.jpeg

I don't want to hijack the thread either.i never said the cabs weren't the same size 39-46.i said they were bigger than a 37-38.height floor to top of cab +2" approx. windscreen +2"h and 2"w(GM HERITAGE SITE) and different firewall pressings (from stovebolt)if you fit in easy with a 4" chop good luck to you not everybody will.
