Do you have the original hupcaps with that Lincoln? If so, any interest in selling them off?

might have em for sale.... but if i get rid of em, wil be trading i think.... will let everyone know... but way to hijack the thread, LOL

  5. Uncle Scooby or 286 Merc should be able to fill you in, but not much interchanges. You mean you've got these kind of valve covers? Very cool.

Nothing from a Ford Y block. Some stuff swaps from the 302/332 Big Truck blocks and thats it.
BTW, dont leave that Lincoln on the street at night; Ive been looking a long time for a 368 to put in my 54 F350!

Depending on what you want to do with the 1957 Lincoln you have most all of the best parts for hot rodding. They had the ECU heads, 57's has extra reinforcing with bigger exhaust valves (for performance use is the best), has the higher ratio rocker arms, a fairly good intake and the best distributor.

For interchange these all used the 368 so their parts would fit 1956 & 1957 Lincolns & Mark II, 1957 Mercury Turnpike Cruiser. There were some Hi Po 368 parts offered through Ford and Holman & Moody in 1957 for the 368 and in the Mercury a Hi-performance engine package for racing called an M335 for its 335 HP rating. Had fined aluminum valve covers with M335 in the center, dual quad intake, a hot cam, stick bell housing and flywheel, really rare stuff.

1955 Lincoln had a 341, and the 1952 to 1954 Lincoln’s used the 317 engine all are the same engine design and the parts would bolt on though you would not be gaining any power with the older heads, they had less compression, intakes ports and valves are smaller too. The big Ford trucks (around the F600 to F800) up to 1963 used this engine in 279, 302, 317 & 332 sizes some truck parts that might be worth considering besides a block are the 1960 - 63 intake Holly 4V bolts on, they had a set of Rams Horn exhaust manifolds that might be worth a look. The 302 & 332 cranks are forged steel and same 3.66 inch stroke as the 368 they have been welded and easily stroked to 4.00 inch and sometimes even to a 4.10 inch. Some are using the truck cam for more bottom end torque too.

From a Y block Ford the only parts that can be swapped to the Lincoln’s is the distributor some are using 57 up unit because of better advance (you need to change to the Lincoln gear) the oil pump and its drive would also need to be used with this combo.

If you run across any extra parts I have a 1954 317 engine that I want a few parts to hot rod it with. Would like to find a set of the ECU heads and 1956 or 57 rocker arms, 57 distributor, truck steel crank, 56 or 57 flywheel, trans bell housing, and throttle linkage Aluminum valve covers and either dual quads tri power or a blower setup.

Speed parts are really hard to come by for these motors but check on Ebay with a fellow called "vintakes" in California. Lincoln speed parts are his specialty and he usually has a few hot NOS cams and occassionally an intake. The valve covers are expensive but cool. I saw that Lincoln for sale and thought it was bitchin. I used to have a 57 two door. It's a lot of car.

The 368 is an awesome motor. The biggest drawback is finding parts for them. I am wrapping up a rebuild on mine for my premiere. .40 over pistons, Re worked heads, I had the hardest time finding a cam for it. (the orig had a chipped dist' drive tooth.) So I sent it out to be repaired.

The stock valve covers are nice, but Vintage Speed is now reproducing the Edmunds aluminum valve covers for this engine. A picture is about 2/3 down the page at this link:

There is a sort of "underground" for these motors, so don't be shy with questions or any odd info, even though some of the most knowledgeable are gone (RIP Rich Fox!!), there are others still lurking & attempting to carry the "flame" for those of us masochistic enough to dabble with the "Y-Blocks" bigger brother... LOL!
