  2. I parked next to my buddy tonight at the track for a front end comparison, my grill is much wider than his, which would spread the lights further apart. 20180828_181749.jpg

I would leave it as is. Are you required to run a front plate?

The lights mounted as shown, next to the upper grill, look right at home.
It looks very good, just the way you've built it. I vote to leave it as shown.

Yours was the first reply to cover my sentiment on this topic (in addition to the reduced light output).

I started a thread a few years back about the idea of having removable headlights. I thought it was a valid topic.......but then the thread got removed. :(

  12. I could imagine the way people get on their soapbox is nuts. I know I've read in the "little books" how guys would drive to Bonneville, unbolt the lights and run, bolt the lights on and drive home. No big deal.
I'm at a disadvantage with the tilt front, the only way it would work is if the receiver was attached to the body, but then it would probably shake it all about like the hokey pokey.

I have some"off topic" cars and one of them is a 69 RS /SS camaro. These cars have overrides to allow the lights to shine through the slotted headlight doors in case the vacuum system fails (67 and 68 did not).
At twilight it looks cool if I override the system and I can see just fine, maybe the same idea can be used.
If the grill obstructs, maybe you can use power operated doors to open to allow for more light.

    Just an idea.

@swade41 I know you are resistant to cutting the fenders. I did vote for the hidden however with another config (Cord/Desoto)...your reluctance to consider this avenue made me change my vote but fuckit one more pic and I think the Cord @The37Kid suggested as well as the Desoto posted really achieve the clean Bonneville look your being inspired by and giving you unarguable full unobstructed light...I just posted another view with color similar to your Truck and you can see it really is pretty clean closed. Yeah it will look like ass open but hey it's night who gives a shit...Anyways just offering considerations as others have without any attitude...the other thing is both are period inspirations...I remember seeing a Desoto in a Wrecking Yard back in the mid seventies and I went shit I thought Hideaways were a new phenomenon...uh uh...anyways enough of my Blah Blah Blah...

The lower pic is that Desoto I was talking about...I remember
    pics or it didn't happen...:D

Oh, yes. '37 Ford headlights massaged into the fenders would look really good, IMHO.

Well, first of all, you have my sympathy for living in NY. Secondly, buy a '47 GM truck, then you won't have these DMV, law, or psychic experts screwing with you. LOL

GOD, I hate to go there, but that second pic looks like a future overheated engine, ESPECIALLY when part of that hole will be blocked by headlights.

you asked for opinions so heres mine.I think these trucks look best with the original lights they came with.I have halogen bulbs in mine and still don't think they work all that great.I put amber bulbs in the running lights and use them for turn signals cars.jpg

So let’s put this to bed....
    A. It’s not a mouse motor
    B. He likes the truck
    C. The lights on the outside in the poll are what is on there now
    D. He and I just spent a great night at a cruise night tonight and no one thinks it’s a street rod

    Anything else?
