The Life of Riley was one of my favorite shows, and that was one of the best episodes!
Who knew that TV in the 50's was promoting the NHRA and organized drag racing. It's a shame that things have changed so much in recent years!

Jeesh! I hated that show! Wish you hadn't brought it up!

Actually, Bill Bendix was Chester Riley on RADIO before he was Chet on TV. But I think he did care about young people. I chose my avatar DECADES before the HAMB was invented. I still believe Bill and Co. were right on the cusp of the horsepower race, plus advocating for safety and responsibilty, as it was pretty common for municipalities to crack down on us "renegades." Between wars, they didn't have any other paper tigers to divert the public attention! JDs were the DEMON! LOL

Damn, I remember the episode! BTW, I always remembered 'Rile' as being fat....damn, he looks skinny compared to the fat assed society we have today.

Thanks for posting that link. I always enjoyed that show. Most of the garbage on TV anymore can't even come close to that show for good clean entertainment value. William Bendix was a class act !:D
