Life magazine never seen photo archive released

Man.....I never saw any women like this in 1972.....all the chicks were either hippies, or disco style........

 

You had to go to Japan to see them.

This chick was smuggling Baby Moon hubcaps out of the factory. She got busted.

 

Umm, yeah. My brother and I had those. We called them something considered politically incorrect today.

 

I remember buying reclaimed motor oil in those bottles in the sixties. They also had it in bulk or gallon cans. It looked like polluted river sludge.

I really hope that Hot Rod Magazine or Car Craft would do the same one day!!!

 

That would be a traditional dune buggy... Or maybe a Baja T? Swamp Buggy? Top reminds me of the jungle boat ride at Disneyland...

 

I'd like to know the story behind this one.

Appears to be a seldom-seen '42 "Blackout" model, one of the last '42's produced.

 

Said it was getting ready for shipment, but no reason for the wheels, I'm kinda curious myself.

 

It almost looks like it would drive on train tracks or something.

 

Hmmm, that got me thinking...I wonder if those were used as the car traveled down the assembly line (maybe on some sort of track) and were replaced when the car was ready for shipping?

my thought was a conversion during WW2...there was a huge sortage of tires and some even used plywood for tires...........they gave alot on the homefront for our freedom now!

 

I thought the "Blackout" cars and trucks were built without chrome? Unless you are talking about the driver blacking out???

I guess they're pulling the body off this one to build a gasser out of it.
