I sold about a dozen of these cast NOS Ruptured Ducks on eBay a few years ago. They were cast with a pale gold or bronze tint on them, very detailed.

The Ruptured Duck is what irreverent GIs called the WWII Service Pin that these represent.

This a reproduction (I have an original) of a topper from the 1950's. The repros were done by the Telluride Rotary Club as a fund raiser and were sold in local stores. County clerk's office even had one on display with a list of the stores where they could be purchased. BTW, the plate is an unrestored 1929 Colorado truck plate that i run on my 1929 Supercab flatbed truck

I draw these up on CAD, stamp'em, get them enameled and nickel plated in AZ. I've drawn up some using the HAMB logo -- just need Ryan's OK to proceed :) You like?

I've been meaning to post this for some time. An old friend sent it to me. It is thin aluminum and appears to be screen printed and then embossed. I have no idea if it's new or antique, but it looks very new. Later, Gary

  14. ...our club had O'Brien Truckers make these licence tags for us,...we had them made with mounting ears on the top & bottom so they could be mounted both ways or since I mounted mine on the wood storage box in the bed of my truck, I used all 4 mounting tabs. We call them toppers ..or..bottomers.

No pic but mine was taken from the front bumper of a 42 Ford Coupe in the East Texas woods by a friend of mine over 25 years ago.
Red background with sanded letters "HOUSTON...Bright Spot of the Nation".
I also have a couple Ruptured Ducks from post WWII that are kinda gold colored and as big as the palm of the average man's hand.

Anyone know if Cool Castings went out of business  ?

No luck with the website and haven't seen anything on Ebay either?

  24. I've never seen this one before. It is going on our vintage huntin' and fishin' Jeep.

Surprised I didn't see this one on the thread. Picked it up on ebay a couple of years ago. Get a lot of comments on it.

Here is one on the front of my Model A. I know that there are quite a few of these older cloissone AAA badges, but this one is from an area that only has maybe 9500 people in it, so I figure the New Columbia AAA wasn't very large. And, I live in Kelly Township, so it's kind of personal. I only know of two of these toppers-they came from an older woman whose dad ran a junk yard and her nephew has the other.
