Hinstin is a new one on me. Ran a few different engines including the ubiquitous Ruby according to the Bolster's bible on French cars. I have always liked this faux paint effect. wish I could replicate it - reminds me of that Hispano Suiza Alfonso in the Mullin collection.

 

Wow, I never heard of those engines. I bet the 6 is a smoothe runner.

Your friend's car seems to be a mid-'30s AC Six. The interesting thing about it is that its 2-litre OHC six was in production, in various states of tune, from 1922 to 1963, and was reasonably competitive right up to the end:

Montier built with Ford chassis and Montier Engine. I know we shy away from calling Austin Senes and Bugatti Brescias cyclecars....however this one is somewhat special....and if it weren't for the FORD script you would never know.Montier Model A Ford (velocetoday.com)
