The patina on your 56 looked great, but I whole-heartedly agree with you about not throwing a cheap paint job at it just to make it shiny and get by. That cheap paint job will just cost whoever eventually tries to do a nice job more work and more money to sand through when the time comes. The wrap is a slick idea...did you do it yourself or have someone do it, and did all the chrome and stainless get to stay on the car while the wrap was being applied? I have a 56 150 2 door sedan in the same colors as your 56, and it has a cheap paint job on the white part. If that portion could be vinyl wrapped and look good at a reasonable price, I'd be interested because re-doing the paint and doing it right would require taking off all the stainless and removing the windshield/back glass.

  5. I think it was perfect before the wrap. If you ever want to sell I'd interested. But that wrap would be gone.

A 55 we picked up a few months ago. Looks like they started to make a race car of it. Radiused quarters. Metal riveted on back seat trunk area. The 3 on the tree still there, 6 cyl motor mounts.
No holes for shifter auto or standard
It will go back 4 speed sbc . Nothing to radical I want to put miles on it

My son's 55 that came out of a cattle yard. Really solid car with virgin floors and trunk. The only rust is in the dog legs and the lower edge beneath the deck lid. L-79 cammed 283/4 speed. Gets 18mpg and will bark the tires going into 3rd.

    The day mine went away.
Old strip car that I bought and put it on the street for a few years, broke the engine so I thought now that it's down I would tear it down change some things and put it back together....well work got slow then nothing...but I held on to it and things got a little better meanwhile a few other projects came along and almost 10 years flashed by...then cancer hit..figured the end was near so the 55 went away along with 6 other Hot Rod drivers and projects, I did keep 3 or 4 , then after around 8 surgery's they tell me I'm going to live...well that almost pissed me off after selling off my Hot Rods...but I did keep some and I have been working on them and been cancer free for almost 6years now... 20151103_160141.jpeg

Does a crappy rattle can paint job, a busted window and mildew count as patina? 20191118_144230.jpg

Its a little nicer under the hood.

Drove this around all summer like this. Was some high school kid's car in the 70's, and it was a 4 door when I got it, that's why the front doors don't quite match.

It's nice enough to deserve a real paint job eventually, but other projects are in line in front of it, so it's gonna be like this for a while. I wouldn't mind the old paint so much but I wish it was a bit more uniform, and not pink.
