Talked to Jimmy Flintstone (the dude that makes those cool resin shift knobs) at the Detroit Autorama about making Mexican Luchador masked wrestler shift knobs. Would anyone else be interested, or am I the only one that thinks these would be cool?

This was on my '31 roadster, tonneau cover had a slit in it to accommodate the shifter.

the car isn't traditional but the shifter and knob are, made the entire shifter as a matter of fact, the knob is a regulation goofy cue ball, I made an aluminum insert with threads, then knurled the outside, drilled the cue ball, and tapped in the insert with some epoxy. didn't like the short factory shifter, so i moved it up higher and back towards myself. here's a thread on making the entire thing, there was more to it then this, but it's a couple of pictures. the console is just sitting in there right now,i was making sure the shifter cleared everything.

I made this shift knob out of a spider gear and an old socket for my beater pickup. I wanted something that went along with the clocks that I make...

you read my mind, i was actually going to do the same thing with an old lathe gear, but i ran across the cue ball on ebay for under ten bucks, so the shifter was created to work with the cue ball

Should have seen the look on my wifes face when she realized what I had done with her "toy" :D Especially since we were on our way to Syracuse for the Nats, and she was petrified that the boarder guard would ask what it is lol

Haven't got it yet, but it is the closest to match the color scheme of my F1.

Mike can make them to order. . .the turn signal knob is about 1 inch, the shifter is about 1.5. . .not threaded. . .he measured the width of the shifter and went a tad wider. I attached them will slow drying 2-part epoxy, to make sure it didn't heat up and crack the glass. . .

To the best of my knowledge, he can do a threaded insert, but needs to see the actual thread and measure it. . .we just ran out of time for him to do that . .

Mine are never coming off my car ;):D
