    There is a fella around these parts who has a gorgeous 38 coupe- done in a light copper color with an off white interior, if memory serves. It is one sharp car!

    Pacemaker and Wasp are the cheaper models. Smaller engines, smaller brakes, much less trim, shorter wheelbase (6" off the nose), stripped down interior, and generally less options, although most options could be ordered. The earlier Commodore models were also the long wheel base fully equipped models that were replaced by the Hornet lineup. Supers predated the Pacemaker, but were also long wheel base, similar equipment...

    Just finished a '39 Railton which is actually a Terraplane chassis and straight 8 with an aluminum body.

    When the british marque Invicta went bankrupt in the mid 30s the Company owner decided to buy Hudson drivetrains from the US and
    install his own bodys. He bought the rights to use the name Railton
    off Reid Railton who was a famous land speed record holder at the time.

    These cars were the quickest around back then.

    I custom built the body around an ashframe supplied by the owner.

  12. Happiness is a Hot Rod Hudson! I have had this 1951 Hudson for a long time(1971) It has a "Twin -H 308" with all of the 7X stuff done to it! Plus NOS nitrous port induction,4 wheel disc brakes,new springs and a 1 1/2 sway bar! It is fast & handles real well! Montana has the roads and there isn't anyone around,so drive your Hudson like a Hudson ! FAST! Uncle Bill

  14. Do you know Cody in Miles City? I met him a few years back in Deadwood South Dakota he had driven his Hudson Hornet from Miles City to Kool Deadwood nights.

    In the 40s they made "Super Six" "Super Eight" "Commodore Six" and "Commodore Eight" models. Super and Commodore indicated trim levels, Commodore being fancier, six and eight referred to the engines.

    Hudson "Super Six" engines date back to the teens. They made different engines under the Super Six name, a flathead, an F head, then flatheads again.

    That dash is cool. I am more into step downs(48-54) and have never looked closely at the earlier models.

    Well, I am going to do a large chop, and I'm seriously considering converting it to a two door. I'm looking for a good deal on a set of doors from a two door in the mean time, otherwise I will extend the ones I have by maybe cutting the rears and using parts of them. I'm also considering buying a late model car to use as a donor but I know that isn't traditional. Maybe by the time I start I'll change my mind on that part of it. I have a nice set of desoto teeth that I might use that need to be re chromed, I am definitely not using the original grille, and will probably end up modifying the grill opening quite a bit. I've also scored a set of dagmars that I'm considering, and I'm looking for a center section of a 1954 Chevy grille that I can contemplate using

    That is what I did starting with a 4 door and imported coupe doors and rear flanks from USA and then moved the pillars back and fitted it all up(sounds easier than what it really was!!). I purchased this stuff from Bill Albright back in early 2000 and he is now deceased but his grandson still runs Vintage Coach.

    I literally live ten minutes from that place! I bought a fender there for this same car recently. They are great people and have a boat load of Hudson parts. I asked about a set of doors but they didn't have any more. By the way that's a beautiful car!
