Well this is my Flathead from when I got it to when it was fitted.... Still a lot to do but it looks OK
Head OFF .... ooo bit of a mess
Inlets OFF .... ooo more mess
Block dipped and crack tested ... turns out it was cracked...
So here is the replacement
Fresh Block with fresh stuff
Finally done, fully re-decked, gas flowed, matched ports etc etc
Many Thanks to Jim at Royal Kustoms.
My '62 401, made to look like a '55 364. Just waiting on a tranny bracket...
This is in the bay of one of my current f bodies, I dig the day-two look in my classic muscle cars. 396, custom machined hemi breathers into the top of the valve covers where funky bowties used to reside (cut them down dramatically so they sit level). Machined out the moon air cleaner top ribs to clear a spot for the 396 fender emblem off a chevelle or something. oh the things you can do with a Bridgeport mill and a polishing wheel. Aluminum heads and air gap were cleaned up (lettering removed) tumbled and clear coated, different look. Later model car but ideas that maybe someone can use.
nice touch on the air cleaner, I like the phrase "day two"
Might have been running by now, if it weren't for a leaking radiator!
