I've been building this one for a year with Mike's help at H&H, 49 8BA getting topped with these

Clive at Stromberg painted them to match the block. Going in my 34 Roadster.

The technical complexity of the Moto Guzzi V8. Raced in the mid 50's it featured a v8 configuration with 4 camshafts, 8 carburetors and 8 sets of points. Shessh.. how are your tune up skills?
All this and more in a 30 cubic inch engine.

CGkidd, funny you mentioned that. My wife walked into the man cave the other night and caught me on-line looking for wheels and tires, she said "just once I'd like to walk in here and find you surfin porn". I keep disappointing that woman.

  16. That is a 54 324 that we punched with 371 pistons now at 345?, #10 heads done by Dave50 in Fitchburg, MA with Z28 valve train, cam from Tony at Ross.............I don't have the cam info here with me as I am on the road in TN at the moment. It sounds nice with a bit of a lump at idle and great throttle response on the stand. Going in my 31 coupe which I have just started on so it will be a bit before she goes down the road! Haven't worked with the Olds engines since I was 17 and that was a long time ago for sure. My first rod was a 47 coupe with a 303 and a 39 box. Nothing to look at but it was cheap transportation for me and all my friends at the time. As they say those were the good old days.

Almost a twin to what I am doing. 345 with an OL496, 4 holley ECG's, Camcraft solid, ported late heads and chevy valves and stude rockers on cad shafts, coupled to a side-shift cad box.

  21. Love those Nailheads!

  22. George, I din't think the Stude rockers would work on the Olds with the CAd shafts. I thought Tony told me that????

You have to bore out the stands, the cad shafts are larger diameter.

It can be done just a lot of work. I believe there is a thread on here somewhere on doing that. I believe it is the Olds tech thread. My engine is also taken to 4in bore with a Isky 505c roller a set of Tony'y roller rockers, Magneto and one of Tony's flywheels also.

For my money, the biggest issue is getting the valve covers to fit, but thats the case with any olds adjustable rocker. A lot of this stuff ceases to be economically viable if you are paying someone $60 an hour to sort it out, you would be better off just shelling out the long green for a bolt-on roller rocker set-up. Its only reasonable if its DIY.

The Geometry... as well as the shaft dia are not correct for an Olds...as far as Im concerned...valvetrain is not something to take lightly........ Our adjustable rockers are purpose made for an Olds ...not retrofit..... and they clear all stock and aftermarket covers with ease ........

  29. Thanks. That helps out. Do you use any sealant on them? What kind to you recommend? I hate leaks.
