  3. My old coupe from the 70's. Sold it to a friend and he painted it yellow. I never liked it. But I guess it was better than the blue and primer it was when I built it. He still has the five window, but it has not seen daylight in decades. And no, he won't sell it! Old Pics Hot Rods 002.jpg

I have a related question. When did the first yellow hot rod show up on the street?
This was painted in December 1952.

The 36 Willys came first. That burnout was with 9" Goodyear slicks around 73. Next is my all steel 40 Willys around 75 then my Corvette as it looked in 85 but the picture is from 2017 with the person that owns it now.

PS I just noticed the difference between old Kodak film and todays digital cameras. All three cars where painted the same color.

    Hello,

One day we were walking around these classic old homes in all stages of remodeling and some not so much. They were historic homes in the Central OC. There were all kinds of cool old, homes, some large, some very large and some just ordinary homes from the classic 40s-50s era.

But, out in front, there was a 1953 Buick Convertible in a very warm, but, PALE YELLOW color. It was not a Skylark, but drew the attention of all of those that visited these homes and cars on display. The convertible just fit right into the theme of the historic homes.

A PALE YELLOW (not too bright and not too pale...) classic car within the boundaries of some classic homes. What a nice fit. The PALE YELLOW 53 overall look reminded me of my dad’s 53 Buick sedan with the same stylish taillights and toothy grille. No, we did not have the optional Skylark wire wheels…
