Here is some Guy Shivley did on my vintage sprint car. He did the lettering from old pictures from when it raced. He is really a great artist, located in Youngstown ,Ohio.

The car was built in 1940, had a ford model b engine the. The car raced before the war and won alot of races. I have most of the news clippings from its wins. A fellow named Tommy Adams drove it before the war.The car raced in the Ill/Iowa Area. After the war a fellow named Quieton Cowles bought it and raced it with the Mississippi Valley Racing Assoc. In 46 he won Rookie Of The Year With It. During the war the engine was converted to a Allis-Chalmers wd45 tractor engine. There were other A/C powered cars that ran with that club also. In fact they won three championships with A/C power. 241 ci, Full pressure Lubrication, overhead valves, twin strombergs. This motor is a torque monster. I ran it at the 09 Winchester Old Timers Meet, Wow is it fast. It is really a cool car. I just finishing a new car right now. so this one is FOR Sale Deek

The Whoppee Car. Perfect name and design. One of my favorites growing up in the DC area, "this car is A/Gas" on the quarter window is perfect. especially if you ever saw the car launch.

I had this done so it looks like it was done in the back yard back in the 40's.

Here's a sprint car that I did the paint and lettering on . The car was originally owned and driven by Billy Wilkerson from El Monte CA. When I was akid , I lived one street over from Billy , and 40 years later I'm restoring his car ! Kinda cool .

The old "Brooklyn Heavy" plymouth is standing in my warehouse waiting for me to recreate the gold leaf lettering and striping from the days. The owner will build it like Rufus himself had it, except for the original hemi that was blown to pieces.

The small sponsor type lettering fascinates/impresses me as much as the big stuff.

Larry Fator recently painted the lettering on my Nova. It's all done in silver leaf, although it doesn't show in the photo.

I'm really glad to see that hand lettering is still alive, it truly is a dieing art due to the time investment to get it right. Nothing makes me more pissed then seeing a restored or fresh built car done period correct, and then they screw it up by putting vinyl on it!!!

    Keep up the good work!

This is my friend, Ron Edwards. Ron has been painting since he was 13 years old in the mid 60's, when on Saturday mornings, drivers would leave their cars on his parents front lawn for him to paint. He's worked on movies, for big companies, painted just about every Ga race car. It's amazing just what he can do. Here's some samples of his work on here. http://bigrsigns.blogspot.com/

He's done lots of work also in the museum I work at, Georgia Racing Hall of Fame, and has pained quite a few of the vintage race cars in there. Heck, he's even painted some of Bobby Allison's original Coke cars from back when he ran with Junior Johnson.
