Must have been sitting below a birds nest.....bird shit welds all round. Surely when they were doing that they were doubting the result. If those welds were on your garden gate you wouldn't trust them, let alone a chassis! Good save!

Did they saw off the front of the Mustang, and "weld" it on?

My head hurts from just looking at that.

That was their intent, they used a '65 Mustang as donor vehicle for front clip, engine, trans & rear.

  20. I'm just a hobbyist. I make my own patches out of necessity because I don't want to pay anyone. Heres some of my work.

  22. That's a special tool. I use that for rubbish relocation.

Here's some pics of my hood patches. I use a harbor freight planishing hammer to smoothie them out.

Not sure if I should post these, it's a modern car, I almost never work on one, but this one I'm doing something I never did before, make a body panel completely from scratch, and first time doing anything in aluminum. I know it didn't come out perfect, like most of the metalshapers here, but I'm working on it!
Customer wants to transform his 2014 Malibu into an Aston Martin styled sports car. I mounted real Aston fenders (fiberglass) and bumper/grill onto the car, but could not transform the old hood, too much difference in shapes. He also wanted it made out of aluminum. Built a frame out of thinwall steel tubing, to get the overall shape, and gaps, then made the skin, in 5 pieces to fit.

Part 2 after putting in the sides, and front, I hammered in some 'vents' that will be filled with mesh.

  27. Wow. I'm just some guy, but I think you are doing some fine work there. Regardless of what it's on yearwise.

Then there is this Giullia, I'm fabricating pretty much everything for it since replacement sheet metal is so expensive.
Unfortunately I don't have a power hammer for now and waiting for a TIG, so everything is MIG welded.
    Trunk floor:

The left front fender was crushed, so after a little port a power play to straighten it I fabricated the first 5" including the headlight pocket, lower left grille opening and on the ground is the new inner grille sheet metal I fab'ed that will go in when I'm done with the opening. I might replace the center grille opening also since during the previous "repair" they ground way too much metal.

What you don't see in those pictures is that the car is cut in half and most likely I will have to fabricate everything that fits between the front and rear sections.
Did I mention that this car was "restored" in the US?:p

Quality workmanship knows no nationality. Both good craftsmen and hacks are everywhere.
