The only time painted grilles or bumpers ever looked good to me is when they were white.
A lot of cars and trucks came from the factory that way and looked pretty good.

here is a couple pix of mine first I shot the grill body color until I could get it chromed (I dig it for now) I will eventually chrome the bullet ring and the pieces that go to the parking lights and not paint the surround pieces.

^^^^^Now see. That doesn't look bad with the chromed bumper. I still love the original look or at least a little splash of chrome across the middle, but the above shows it can still have "class".

that "monochrome" look where you paint everything (bumper, grille, etc) body color was so overdone for several years - still see it and it still looks just plain silly. Nobody every did that crap in the 40s 50s or 60s - I think the car that started the trend was the Project 57 toward the end of its magazine life....didn't like it then...don't like it now - but - I'm a widely acknowledged curmudgeon.

Painting a grill on any custom ride is a total screw up and the worst thing you could do besides hanging skulls and spider webs on it.No one with any taste or respect for the custom would ever do it,total vomit.
