    Google shows average annual income in 1964 as $4,600. That's only around $385.00 per month.

    My wife's first job in 1964 was teaching school in Utah at $3600.00 a year. We were pretty happy with that and had enough left over to buy a 327 SBC for my 75.00 33 coupe. Those were better times.
