well... the first thing you should realize is that the 49 - 50 coupe is a much more beautiful car.... but perhaps I am somewhat biased in this regard

second.. a "business coupe" is a coupe with no extra trim and no back seat. next in the trim line would be a "styline special" which has a back seat, but is missing some of the trim that the
    "styline deluxe" coupe has.

as for how you should build... in my opinion the world does not need another 49 - 52 chevy that "lays frame" at the expense of a trunk floor or rear wheelwells.

Build it how you want it. It's your car.
Here is a 49-50 that I think is on the money.

Wow! that is perfect. I like. The satin roof ads a nice touch.

It's not a satin roof, that's just the metallic paint in the sun. (Notice the reflection of the guy on the phone.)

Man - My 50 Coupe is in pieces right now, and although I have a hard time believing it, I picked up some Pontiac side trim just like that this Spring for that exact purpose. Damnit!
It's getting REALLY hard to be different when building a custom these days.

Find an older resto with a clear title, chop to fit, lower as needed, drive as required.

  13. These are '52's, but same difference...

'49-50...I think the quarters flow better on these years, otherwise they're more or less the same...

The purple/white one IS a coupe! I see around here ever so often...

  16. ...no the one above the purple one....the trunk looks too small/short to be a coupe.

Heres my '51 Business Coupe, I've had it since '86, drove it till '97, its been in and out of storage since...finally getting back to work on it. Its powered by a 327/350 turbo, '57 rear, 3:55 Posi , loves 5.0 'stangs....I'm finally digging into the 20+ year pile of parts I gathered for it...suffice to say, the roof, hood and deck lid are staying...most of the rest of the sheet metal is being replaced with NOS goodies...HOWEVER...it is still gonna wear flat black....its been that way since day one....and its staying that way!:D

not a 51...but 52 is pretty much the same thing. and not a bus coupe. mine is a coupe deluxe.

As she looked in 2002 when I got her.

Here's my daily... nosed, decked, 235, 2bbl, Fentons and straight pipes... and it IS an actual business coupe (no armrests, clock, radio, etc) Skirts are going on as soon weld up replacement panels over the back wheels (someone did a hack job trying to fix the rust many moons ago)

Ordered my dropped uprights, steering arms, and dropped coils from Gambino last week... can't wait to see the UPS guy!

Plenty of changes on this coupe coming up REAL soon... I'll post pics
