Heres a few pictures of my 53 Buick Special.
What a nice noise ...... Can t wait to hear my 263 running ...
i saved the 263 engine out of a buick , weighs a ton lol , got it on a pallet in the shed , want to put it in a T bucket , has the 243 factory dual carbs and manifolds on it , something different
A ton ? But quite
For my 1951 263 :
Block ( empty ) = 90 kg / 200 lbs
Head ( empty ) = 45 kg / 100 lbs
Crank = 45 kg / 100 lbs
Cam = 17 kg / 38 lbs
8 pistons + 8 rods = 14 kg / 31 lbs
Don t know for the bell housing , I still need one
wow seems light lol , when i moved the engine and the old 3 spd i had to stand on the back of the engine crane to keep it from flipping ,its still a big hunk of iron
I used the same scale I use for myself and my GF , it s quite acurate .
On an assembled engine , you also have manifolds , alternator , carb , bell housing + trans , valves , rockers , etc .
The under hood pics I promised, you guys probably thought I forgot
Bumpity Bump! I wanna see more 53 Buicks!
