55 Nomad look came from the Corvette based Nomad show car

I race this one for a buddy of mine...It's been a race car since 68' We just put it back to the original paint scheme last year....It's a big block with an 8 port enderle..Just barely fits under the hood...

 

The blue '55 with dent in it I bought in '62 for parts for mine after that it got junked. The green one is my old Chevy which I wish I didn't sell. The blue one belonged to a friend and he traded it for a '58 Chevy convertible.

 

Same car 'bout a year and one owner apart.

 

Saw way to many red '55s around here in the '80s, but this one does something for me. No front bumper, the wheels...

 

Granpas wagon in the shed and one of pops h/ts n the driveway in '69.

speaking of 55's was at cruise night tonight and seen a 55 owner told me its not what it looks like it has a nascar frame one of 600 built ??? whats with that or just bs

 

Heres a photo of what I started with and how she looks today. Was headed for the chrusher and I couldn't let her go so I made my version of a tlb car. YRUHOT......Doug

If by nascar he was talking about the "seamless" frame, I'm sure they made lots more than 600. I have also heard them called "California" frames. Hell many Wisconsin (Janesville) cars had them too. If I'm not mistaken, many seamless frames were made by A.O. Smith, the blue silo maker in Illinois.

 

Hey Paul....that nomad is one cool piece brother plus the family history just makes it that much more cool.
