When I bought this the guy said it was outta a 58 or 59 ranchero, he also said it was an 8", but with all the searching I have done on the internet it seems to be a 9".
There is no tag on it but cast in the front of the 3rd member is the # 8A4025 then a 4 after the bolt. on the side of the yolk is an I in a diamond with 0-59 under it.
    Any help would be great.

It's been awhile since I looked at one but I didn't think the pinion on these was offset like this one is. Maybe the ones I had were oddballs.

Its not an 8" either, the 8", like the 9" had 6 bolts around pinion...

How many splines are on the shafts? 28 or 31 are Fords. (8" and/or 9") earlier may differ.

Here are a few more pics. The bolt pattern is 5 X 4 1/2.

Well, I found it in an old "Motors" manual .....Drum roll!!!...... it is a 1949 to 1951 ford rear end. It didn't give a size, so still not sure on that.
so I guess the rear end I have is sore and streched out a little farther:mad:

Early rearends are early rearends. Until the 8" and 9" Ford and 10-bolt and 12-bolt GM became available they were just called rearends or differentials.
