I found this pic from way back when. I don't even remember if my dad ever used anything from it it just sat in Grandpa's barn for a while. Think I was about eight or nine

One of the few benefits of living in Kalifornia is we have more nice weather days than bad, so we can skip the hibernation of our hotrods and enjoy basically year round enjoyment.
Like you, I drive mine almost everyday. 40's been on the road just about a year now and logged just over 10K miles.

Those Edelbrock chrome covers are being replaced by a set of finned aluminum covers.

I've never been able to bring myself to trust 4 little 5/16" studs screwed into an aluminum manifold to support a 500+lb. engine:eek::confused:

I'm with ya! Seen it done many times with no failures observed,... but it just don't seem right.

  14. LOL. that's the same conversation I had with my brother-in-law before I used it the first time. I always used a chain attached to brackets that bolt down on the manifold bolts.

I will say, however, it worked pretty nice.

I'll never get enough of 40 Fords. As for you guys that care less, Sorry! (not really) Here's a couple more, I have my own ideas about what color but have to give others credit for doing anything different than traditional black or red.... 40sedanfb8.jpg

Mick, some states required a tailight on each side,( so they are dealer installed) on standard models and the TEMPLATE used may be off, so tailights on some standards set "funny," get a better bodyman !!!
Dash on deluxe were two tone paint, deluxe had clock in glove box door,
in "40 All sedan deliveries had deluxe front end, and some '40 S.D. came with a four cylinder. Ford used soybean plastic for dash parts knobs,, look bad with age.

Ford used what he had: note if you put a straight edge from headlight opening to grille and measure 90 degrees to the sheet metal a '39 fender measures less.
(sometimes one of each on same car..)

Lots of other differences to "old Ford buffs."..... seldom does a hood fit well on drivers side of a standard. lol.. plenty to discuss about THAT...

Some places in the South, "40 Fords are sacred, almost a religion !!!!! can I get an AMEN ?

Deluxe front bumper sticks out further than a standard, different length back bars. (to clear deluxe grille..)

Bob, I went back a page and did not see the question Mick asked. Can you clarify?
