My favorite '40 at GNRS was a four door. Hard to believe :). 100_7661.jpg 100_7663.jpg 100_7664.jpg

Great looking Mor Dor! Back "inna day" in the '5os, that the way you built a '40, black, bit lower in the rear than front, and skirts, but most likely with Caddy sombreros rather than what appears to be chrome rims on that beauty.

Congrats to i.rant , nice write up on his 40 coupe in the new Street Scene. I never realized that your coupe was one I had admired at events in this area Dave.

  12. He was already famous, here on the HAMB. The Street Scene write up now makes him INFAMOUS, or "More than famous", as Ned Nederlander would say.

My 1940 Deluxe Coupe... stored outdoors in February 1976, and about 15 years later at Martins Beach in Half Moon Bay, CA.

Thanks! My dad helped me to negotiate the deal for it back in September of 1974. At $225.00 it cost me most of my life's savings! We dragged it home from Railroad Flats CA; it had been owned by a guy in Angels Camp, CA. That was one week before I started high school. For three years it sat outside at my cousins. In February of 1976 it snowed in the San Francisco Bay Area; the following year we moved it into my parent's garage. Twelve years later, with a lot of help from friends and family, I got it on the road. In 1990 I drove it to "The 40 is Fifty" celebration in Anaheim, CA. The next year it was in the Grand National Roadster Show, where it won a second place in the "Custom Rod Coupe" class. In 1996 I drove it up to Victoria British Columbia for the Early Ford V8 Clubs Western Nationals; it brought home a second place in the "Modified Class" (It made some of the restorers unhappy due to its 350 Chevy!). It's been quite a ride, I wouldn't trade it for anything!

Was my first coupe. As a kid I loved the stone woods and cook Willys but those cars are expensive so a 40 Ford painted in the same color was not a bad second choice. 468 cu in that runs on pump gas and windshield washer fluid.
