A few more
Recently acquired, bought from a fella that has owned the 40 since 1965. Basically an original car , plan to leave it a Flathead.
Never even had the right side taillight added.
A Friends Celebration Of Life Yesterday With A Foreboding Sky...
Not yet I’m thinking for safety reasons it will.
...................It's a tough decision for sure. So cool that it has survived all of these years without being altered, but I certainly get the safety aspect of your decision.
My second tailight wasn’t added either. For safety sake I added two small motorcycle lights (kind of stole the idea from Lee Pratt’s ‘40) which give me three brake lights, plus turn signals. I don’t think they’re too obtrusive.
^^^ nice 40 standard!!
^^^Looks great to me^^^^^^...Beautiful Standard Coupe! More pictures, more pictures.
I ran my coupe for years with only the one tail light. A guy followed me into work one day & was concerned that I had a tail light out. When we went to the rear of the '40 I acted surprised & said it looked like the whole light assembly had fallen off somewhere down the road & he suggested that we ought to go back & try to find it. I chuckled & told him a standard only came with one tail light. He gave me a strange look & shrugged his shoulders. I don't think he got it.
I added two 12" LED strip lights under the car that are brake and turn signal. I was concerned about the taillights not being bright enough even with LED replacement lights. When I hit the brakes now you can see the car following me back off fairly quickly. If someone runs over the back of me now they aren't looking ahead. That might be an option for someone else that doesn't want to add the 2nd taillight.
My 40 sedan. Chop is almost done.

Thanks Olscrounger....it’s a beater compared to what rolls out of your garage!
Thanks lothiandon1940! Nothing too out of the ordinary....dropped axle, CE parallel leaves, 283, turbo 350. Stock type interior.
Old Skoool, that is a fine looking Standard.
LESS is more !! Great 40 . Later Bill
Timeless style, period correct paint, what’s not to like? Beautiful car.
Thanks fellas....much appreciated! They’re never done though, are they?
Thanks Legends & Olscrounger.....Olscrounger, I consider your builds to set the standard to shoot for!
...believe it or not, this one was built from a tudor sedan...one of the stratest I've ever seen...
Not doubting your word... but that must have been some hellacious time consuming metal work. There is no resemblance from the doors back on a tudor except the rear glass.
it's all new coupe sheetmetal from doors back, took about a year...^^^
One, I normally am not a fan of two tone trucks but this one is done right
Two, how about a build series on this project
Finally got the brakes done on the coupe & we're back on the road again. Just in time for the Moonshine Festival in Dawsonville, Ga. There's a group of 6-8 old cars (mainly '40s) going up "dark early" Saturday morning. Hopefully the weather will be better than it was last year.
Doug White's '41 Ford Pickup project, my '40 1/2 ton stake truck, and my '40 Ford coupe (with upside down bumper guards. Yeah...I'm too lazy to correct them)
In Quincy Illinois for the 43rd Tin Dusters Color Run last weekend.
My ol' heap at a car show a few weeks ago.
