  5. Was that the one that was listed on e-bay back around 2009, down in Marietta? If so, I wanted to pull the trigger on that one REALLY bad. Cool MorDor!

Hey bchrismer. I've noticed your posts on this thread & been impressed with your taste in '40 Fords. Also see that your in Missouri & run the Hot Rod Hundred in St. Louis. My wife & I are originally from St. Louis. I registered for the Hundred last year but was puny & didn't make it.
Yup, this is the same Fordor that was on E-Bay. That was before I bought it from deuceV8 (pic of his killer '40 Standard coupe on this page) 6 years ago. Thanks for the compliment Mike's Garage 005.JPG

Nice '40 arkiehotrods, but please cease and desist from advertising restaurants/diners/eating facilities other than SCOTTY B's, the Official Dining Sponsor of this thread. ,:)

  16. Mike, I shot ya an e-mail, to spare everyone else from my '40 Ford stories and Hot Rod Hundred ramblings.

Here's a cool photo that my buddy, Quentin Brown shot, over at Pete & Jakes Open House, last year. Dunno why he watermarked them as 2015, because I know for a fact it was 2016. LOL

Left to Right: Lonny Moore's 40 standard, Lonny Moore's '40 pickup, Roger Ward's 40 Standard, @roadsterpilot's 40 Deluxe MorDor, and my '40 1/2 ton stake truck.

This was the "look" which started my love of the forty Ford. :)

  19. That look, and Gene Sonnen's coupe (early 70s era with 5 spokes), were the two that hooked me.

The look that did it for me was exemplified way back in the 50s with a black '40 coupe with blue tinted windows, WWs, Cadillac sombrero hubcaps on the front, tear drop skirts, lowered so that all that showed of the rear wheel/tire was the very outer flange of the wheel, and a full house Merc with a pleated and rolled interior of b&w. Owned by one of several brothers up in the "panhandle" of Clayton Co. GA just North of us, who were know all over the state as some of the biggest moonshiners anywhere.
This car was not one of the "trippers" those cars never saw the light of day.

I have to ask: Are all the beautiful '40 Fords that I see here in this thread with no bumpers ACTUALLY DRIVEN ON PUBLIC STREETS LIKE THAT????????
I agree that the look is better, but Jeez, with the quality of drivers out there nowadays, and the cost, both in time and money to repair/replace precious, expensive and hard to find parts. do people really do this?

IMG_2579.JPG What better than a '40 Ford forum to show my 1940 license plates. Every state (including Hawaii & DC) & all the Canadian provinces. Wonder how many were run on '40 Fords?

Well yes they do Dave. In reality the 40 Ford bumper is just that, a bumper. Much more than a bump and your sheetmetal is toast. The 40 Ford bumper does not line up with new cars well anyway. I run bumpers though because every little bit helps when you and your car are old and your depth perception is a little rusty. Never know when you will back in to something in the garage or parking among the lawn chairs at a show.

I rely on my bumper guards as "pavement incline measuring tools" ;)
