A Christmas gift from my wife.
    Commercial headlights.
What kind of connector fits onto this headlight wiring?

After a temporary install, I'm beginning to second guess the size and placement.
    What do you guys think??

I prefer the 7" sealed beams, and you will be able to see better with halogen sealed beams vs the big lights with those lenses. That said, if you're going to run the big lights, I feel the headlight bar needs dropped. It doesn't look bad , though.

Yeah the big lights would look better with the headlight bar dropped, maybe someone can photo shop it?

Yep. Thx guys. I just knew you were going to make more work for me. :)
I think I'd consider something between the small ones and the big ones. Is there something available in an in between size that has a good look?
Any idea on that connector in the picture?

  9. I am a big headlight guy,you just need a dropped headlight bar,in my humble opinion the large headlights look better lowered .

You need some headlight conduit, there is several styles available. HRP

Big headlights and the dropped bar are the answer for your truck.

These connectors may be what you need for those sockets. They worked on my Model A. I would like to get some more.

I love the truck and the big headlights, but you do need a dropped bar. It appears that the connector sticking out of the back of the headlight is a socket for an 1157 style bulb. Why it is sticking out that direction, I don't know. Blame China maybe? Or it might just be the thing they use for you to clamp the headlight conduit to.

Nope, the outside connector looks like an 1157 socket but the 1157 socket is on the the other [in]side. This is the external connector to the housing that passes thought the bucket. Stock on my A that has been in the family for 75 years. This plastic plug that I bought from Grote many years ago even has offset nubs to align perfectly.

This is also the same type of connector that is incorporated into the harness on the feed side of '56 chev tail light.

  17. Hot rod truck should have hot rod headlights; not big old stock lights, just saying.

Check out some Guide 903's if you want a little bigger light.

  18. Tell your wife Santa forgot the dropped headlight bar. :)

  19. Accounting for all those wires they probably have built in turn signal. Usually the wires enter the Bucket thru a conduit and connection made inside the bucket no external plugs

Conduits like hrp showed you,and those headlights would look way better on a dropped stainless bar.[IMG]

This is kind of how I feel too. 903's are one of my favorite hot rod headlights. My dad has been a hot rodder all his life.... Graduated in 1959 and drove a Model A hot rod to high school. He says the first thing they did was take off those big stock lights and put on a pair of Dietz, Guide, or something with sealed beams. The big headlights got popular on hot rods in the eighties and nineties.

Dropped bar if your going with biggys, should always do what you like best. Fact is back in the 1950s an 60s ,all the guys I knew an me too put the biggys in a trash can when building a rod, just big old junk ugly lights then, they looked old an were, didn't light crap and were not racy, looked heavy, light from them not much better then a candel. " vs" 7in. sealbeams were the hot ticket=looked faster, less aero drag and actully light the road up. That's why you don't hardly see any biggy headlights on hotrods from the 50s an 60s. Using biggys is a trendy thing now by those that don't know we trash canned them back in the day. Today you can blow $ on new biggys that actully do light the road from new tech, but they didn't work for crap back then an were junk.

Yeah, but don't suggest that the wife would look better with - uh "dropped" headlights, no matter how old she is. She ain't gonna take that kindly!
