I came across this discussion by chance, and I want to change my 6 cylinder in my 57 F100 picup and put another engine, this was not lack of choice, 212, 292 ... etc, in your opinion, which would be more efficient and easier to restore

  6. Are these "real" or did someone add what looks like cast plates with the Turnpike Cruiser" logo on them?? Can't say I've seen them before so I really like them!

those fenton finned aluminum valve cover are righteous! id built a car around them.

  11. The intake was made by Tawco , in Brunswick, an inner Melbourne suburb in Victoria,Australia. They made heaps of marine maranising equipment in the 50's through to the 90's and now goes under the name of Rolco, I think. I spoke to some dude from Rolco a couple of years ago and he advises me that all of the tooling for that old 'shit' was tossed out years ago. It's a pity and a dumb mistake those stupid short sighted guys made as nowadays there is good demand for all of that stuff because it is all being restored and a lot of thier gear is corroded and chewed out over the years and the guys all want new castings for the y block, poly motors etc. Cheers, hope this helps - H.R.D.

good to see this thread back again. here's a little update of the '57 312 going in the '34 coupe. it's got all the ecz-g goodies, original t-bird valve covers, offy 3x2, rams horns, etc. should go nice mated to the T5.

I'm going to put one in my 32 5w. Does anyone make a shorter water pump? I don't want to use an electric fan. What about different front pulleys that snug the block closer?

Opinions on 2x4s or 3x2s? What cam would you guys suggest for a light street car?

    Thanks

Can you guys identify these intakes???

Do you see anything here that jumps out as "unique" parts or something definately worth using on a rebuild???

    This is a 60's Van 292.

These are real. They came on the Mercury Turnpike Cruisers in 57 or thereabouts. In fact, there are a set of these valve covers for sale in the HAMB classifieds

  27. I have a '60 f-100 in the yard, its a cool truck but has some rust thru. Been playing
with the idea a taking the running gear with the Y block and doing an early 60's
model A. Kind of a show car style. Cool stuff.
