Was only able to meet TEX once, when he put on the original Driggs Run. What a truly friendly man, he will be missed by the Hot Rod world.
Just finished reading, it is exceptionally well written and interesting. I guess that is no surprise considering the author. It is a great book about a great guy. I highly recommend it.
ditto. I just started really reading it late this afternoon, read about 3 chapters jumping around, I really need to start at the beginning and read through it. But yes, even more respect for him now. Quite a guy.
I finished reading Tex's autobiography this morning and sitting here feeling very mortal. I setup some new bookshelves in the garage recently and I'm amazed at all the titles that Leroy influenced or originated. He has been a bigger part of my life than I realized. I was fortunate to attend one of the last Teton Crooz's with a buddy and we had a great time with all the activities that Tex & Ceridono organized for us. When ever we were at a big run that Tex would hawk his books at we took the time to look him up and bench race a little. After reading his prolific writings for 50 years I've missed his prose and now I'll have to go back and reread his different adventures in his magazines
